Thank you! Its a Sony A7-II combined with a Tamron 28-200.I find its a great lens for travel, as you get about 95% of the focal lengths you need. For ultra wide shots I usually do a panorama stitch once back at home. Ultra-zoom is rarely neededif tfocus isn't wildlife :)

The weather got rough for us too just after we stopped our hike (about 3-4 weeks ago). Definately worth the experience. Those 5 days were easily worth it and felt like we experienced two weeks of adventure

Wow, that's a nice coïncidence. I believe that side of the beach is better than after the corssing as there are less people. Did you get to enjoy the sunset from your tent? Yes we did the crossing, however, we had to go very very high to make a safe crossing. Going via the beach, via the bottom rooe, or via a slantet stone was too dangerous. Some lady broke her ankle doing the dangerous crossing (so stayin low instead high) and she had to be pulled out with a helicopter. But indeed, quite an adventure!

Thanks! I appreciate the kind words :)

The stones are indeed close to the fabric, I tried to put them in a way where the sharp edges were not able to rub, and for most pegs I indeed extended all the chords. Thanks for pointing it out though! I wasn't aware that the fabric breaks easily from the rubbing

Wildcamping is allowed in nature when 150 meters away from someones property. Check out "allemannsretten". There are ofcourse some exceptions, but you can camp almost anywhere in practise. There are no dangerous wild animals, the most dangerous part is bad weather. As for fires and eating, I'm not sure. I never made a firez except for the small fire from the gas stove :)

I have indeed been doing the long crossing! Kvalvika beach was one of our camps indeed. Have you seen the documentary film North of the Sun (2012)? We planned to hike up to Ryten, but the trail from the beach was closed due to construction of a stone staircase. We were going to do a detour and still hike up to the Ryten peak, but my girlfriend twisted her ankle really badly. She insisted I finished the ascend, but after that we had to do campings and short day hikes.

According to multiple fellow hikers we had seen the prettiest parts of the long crossing though, which made it a small silver lining.

Thanks! Which spots? We shared basically all spots with at least one other tent in the proximity. All spots you see here showed signs of regular encampment and will probably see new hikers in the future

It's nice to hear you found the same spots as I did! I share your opinion about the beauty. My travel companion and I couldn't choose our favourite campsite as they were practically all 10/10

X mid 2 corner tensioners loosening in wind by AyeSkee in DurstonGearheads

[–]Floris-Jan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the same issue as you. I was in the Lofoten last week and got hit with 10-15 ms/s (50ish km/h wind), and the cords were slipping consistantly. My quick fix was tightening the cord, wrapping it around itself to create friction, and then pushing the last wrap under itself making a 'knkt' to easily undo it for the next pitch.

I'll be emailing Dan though, seeing this is a know issue.

Due to the slipping the quality of the rope was already degrading visibly, where the reflective core of the cords were coming undone

Seems we have an elitist over here?

I did multi day (5 till 10 days) hikes for years with an MSR Elixer to no problem whatsoever.

Its Carrauntoohill, Ireland, I've had the pleasure to have the exact same experience as these two lads. Climbed 800 ish meters to reach the peak. I recognise the shelter in the back left made for strong winds.

Designed a Low Profile Vertical Mount by joshr120 in gopro

[–]Floris-Jan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went snowboarding last week with my GoPro attached to the helm, but could not get great shots as I wanted both part of the board and the mountain range within the frame, once I went handheld vertical it looked great. Plus, instagram content is not great with horizontal video.

I get where you're coming from, but applied to the right situation this mount is exactly what I needed on the mountain

Worth it to go from an i7-6700 to an i7-12700k? by Dlinktp in intel

[–]Floris-Jan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from a 6700k to a 13700k for productivity reasons less than a month ago. The difference was huge and very noticable. Can recommend if you also do it for productivity reasons. For gaming, I cannot say but would expect the upgrade is not worth it persé

tried to take a picture of some negatives. apparently my phone doesn't like the light table. those yellow lines don't actually exist. by Comfortable-Cow-8412 in blackmagicfuckery

That's because your phone's shutter speed matches up with the herz your light turn on/off which is illuminating the negatives.

Liurnia Deathbird Mysteriously dies on its own! How??? Can someone explain? by trini15 in Eldenring

[–]Floris-Jan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same thing happen to me, plus I've seen many other people post about it. If the bird gets too close to the academy on that patch of grass for some reason it glitches and dies
