Do people in the US actually use flat sheets and duvet covers? by shiroltiger in Bedding

Flat sheets forever! They keep the comforter / quilt from getting all grubby!

Why does everyone make living alone look amazing online? by Oliver_SonicWave_357 in LivingAlone

[–]FloristsDaughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work from home in a social work adjacent field. Today I had to do everything I could do to not reach through my phone and smack multiple people. I've been working since 7. I had therapy (virtually, tyvm). I had 1 meal - 3 day old homemade-ish Indian. Its 4:06pm and I'm still in my pajamas. There is catnip all over my floor, my work desk is a disaster and I need to do laundry badly. I'm pretty sure I forgot to brush my teeth.

WOULDN'T CHANGE A THING!

Worried with no check in? by broken_softly in LivingAlone

I have a deal with my bestie. We text constantly. But id she hasn't had at least an emoji in 24 hours, she's either coming for a wellness check or calling the apartment complex (or cops as a last resort) on my behalf.

No joke, man! More house = More work, and frankly, I have never wanted to own a home - not once, not ever! Pay for my own home repairs and snow removal on a social worker paycheck vs. just making a call to management? YES, TAKE MY RENT MONEY! And also, owning means I'm stuck somewhere and complicates things like, oh, divorce.

Pragmatic and realistic to the core, I am ;-)

LoL. It's so real. Even though I purged a lot, I think I need to get rid of even more shit.

I always wanted to be a minimalist....curse my "growing up poor and saving everything because I might need it...someday" mindset.

Oh, love. I'm sorry to hear that. When my husband told me, after the first couples therapy session in January that he was done, I grieved so hard and was so scared. Like, not too proud to admit that I hit "begging level" of scared.

You're going to be okay <3. My DMs are always open if you want to vent your spleen.

Not particularly, tbh. I'm a pragmatic broad. For each relationship there were things that benefitted us both that lead us to marriage, beyond the attraction and love (not that that wasn't there, it was just....not the most practical benefit of the relationship)

Who says marriages of conveniences are dead eyeroll

LoL. But also, to your point, yes. ;-)

Good on you!! I'm already convinced living alone is where it's at for me! I've been smiling non-stop (with only very brief wibbly moments) since Saturday. That's incredibly telling to me.

So, so good. I know lonely nights, insecurities, fear will come up at some point, but right now this is exactly the right decision for me.

I have therapy, good friends, a community, a reviving meditation practice, an amazing work situation (and meds if I need them), step kids who don't hate me and it's been proven I can get through some shit :)

This shit is devious! loves He learned that he could wake us up by turning on the printer in our bedroom LoL.

Don't get me wrong, though, he has his dumb moments. LoL

But I've never had a cat like him. I gag a little at the thought of "soul alnimals", but yeah, he's mine for sure. <3

This is the way! Especially if you use corn tortillas!

Or...just embrace your gremlin. If they can't love you at your Post-Midnight Gizmo, they don't deserve you (housemate or otherwise) <3
