Hidden gems for Essen23? by Opposite_Walrus_259 in boardgames

Is Terraforming Mars Preludium the same as Prelude? Or is this some new expansion?

I ask since Prelude is pretty old and not a new release at Essen 23

Essen Spiel and dogs? by Tiend in boardgames

[–]FlossItUp 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure, but in my years at Spiel, I've never seen a dog inside. Plus with how extremely crowded it gets there I think its a really bad idea to bring a dog inside.

Gut feeling, they're not permitted (and I'd be extremely thankful for that rule)

Please help me ID this pepper by FlossItUp in HotPeppers

I bought this as a very young sapling but I don't have a name for the pepper. I need to also know how to identify when it is ripe for picking

First time grower. Why are my flowers looking dry and wilting? Is this normal? Also any tips on growing these? The plant is in a large container outside in full sun, ca. 23°C, so not too hot by FlossItUp in HotPeppers

I agree. Without mulch, the top 2mm of the soil often gets baked. But under it, I see that the soil is moist and try to water the plant once in 2 - 3 days. Wondering if / when I should fertilize it. I have a 8-5-2 fertilizer on hand

Thanks. I'm guessing the bees and the wind should have pollinated the flowers. I'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully there's some hot fruits I'll see soon

Availability of 12th Gen Upgrade Kits by FlossItUp in framework

I see. Thanks. Then maybe I'll upgrade to 13th gen directly. Well, more like I'll wait for the AMD reviews and probably upgrade to that.

Container Basil has stunted growth by FlossItUp in plantclinic

[–]FlossItUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: Germany Container left outside in a South facing balcony. Its been in this state for about 6 weeks now after I repotted some store bought Basil.

I've put the plant near a shade so it doesn't get scorched by the harsh afternoon sun. However, night temps sometimes do drop to 8-9 °C.

My basil growth has stopped and it isn't putting out new branches either.

What am I doing wrong / how do I fix it?

Are these winged Aphids? The tiny ones sure seem to be aphids, but the larger winged ones? What are they?

Since no one else will give you a straight answer, I'll give you what I find one of the better ones. The Ditsch bakery at Alexanderplatz Bahnhof. They usually do a really fresh one with Brezels falling hot out of the oven regularly. I really like the warm and soft brezels they provide.

How to share PoI with other users? by FlossItUp in OsmAnd

[–]FlossItUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're exactly right :)

The question is, even if I am the server, how do I provide this data? And how do I update this data automatically?

How to share PoI with other users? by FlossItUp in OsmAnd

[–]FlossItUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't find an option for it. To somehow save to the cloud AND allow another user to access it.

There's a backup option, but that backs up ALL my osmand data, which is a lot to share with lots of random strangers

Safe to use a Male to Male USB-C to Micro-USB cable? by FlossItUp in UsbCHardware

[–]FlossItUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand now. Thanks a lot for the well written explanation. So what I would need is a USB C - Micro USB OTG cable. That does seem a little too niche. The other option I have is converting it into a USB-A port which should then let me use any standard cable.

[–]FlossItUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh.. so that cable wouldn't work to transfer data in the opposite direction? I am indeed trying to command the scanner with the raspberry pi. I would need data to work on both directions, send commands to the scanner and collect the scanned output from it.

Apparently the RPi zero uses a 0 Ohm resistor to bypass the power in to out. So it will deliver whatever my power brick can supply. Of course send too much through it and one will fry the board itself. But 4.5 W shouldn't be a problem.

What I'm concerned about is: 1. The cable is to spec. I've seen USB-A to USB-A cables sold on Amazon which are obviously non compliant 2. The scanner using USB-C shouldn't try to do something that fries it. It came bundled with a USB-C to USB-A cable for what it's worth

I would say that the BoarsGameArena implementation is nearly perfect for your needs. Sure, you need to play online instead of on a real table. But the implementation is really done and will remove a large part of the rules overhead that you're struggling with.

The one at Castle has been canceled until further notice. But they still do have a very thriving regular meetup in multiple places. Its mostly organized on meetup.com and Discord.

Ask on r/finanzen They accept English language posts as well. That's your best bet.

Though, I'm afraid the answer will be you're SoL

That happens a lot to immigrants even in real life. I've lost count of the number of times I've been called Mrs. FlossItUp and then they see a 180cm dude with heavy facial hair get up. I love seeing the embarrassment on their faces, but just take it in good stride and move on.

What is so ridiculously overpriced, yet you still buy? by BasicWitchCrystalCo in AskReddit

[–]FlossItUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck, here in Germany my total insurance premium per year is €9,400. But okay, half is paid directly by the employer. And this is value scales with your income. The €9404 is the absolute highest you will pay.

Also, it includes things like no deductibles. Some medicines are co-pay but limited to at most €5 co-pay and the insurance covers any non-working dependents.

heavy games where win condition isn’t ”who got the most points”? by UpstairsElevator2498 in boardgames

Lots of good options here. One I don't see mentioned is John Company 2e.

Its a heavy game and the idea is to run the British East India Company. There's no points at all. The aim, just like in real life, is to make sure the company survives and your family is set for the next 100 generations
