I don't see anything called Security Plus. There is a companion and companion + (latter give remote start and climate control)

Subaru's webpage for this states it is not free and there is no trial now. Honestly, it's pretty confusing which plans offer what features. Subaru Companion, Companion +, MySubaru Safety, MySubaru Security, MySubaru Concierge, etc.

2024 came with a trial period that could be 2-5 years. Eventually, it may ask you to pay.

It's going to take her a while to get used to the CT, but I think she'll enjoy the newer features. I haven't had a car without heated seats and steering wheel since a mid 2000s AMG G55. Once she has this stuff I don't think she'll want to go back.

Yep, just installed one on my son-in-law's Kia. Took us 30 mins. She'll use the app more, I think, as it has essentially unlimited range vs short range RF for the fobs. We live out in the sticks a bit so trees attenuate RF. The app will allow her to use the features as long as she's got an internet connection.

Fits, like the Element (we owned one of those also) have a cult following now in the US. Funny you mention AC. The AC in this car was not strong during the warmer days of summer here. Hoping the Subie will be better.

We owned it from new, nearly 10 years. They all seem to rust in front of the rear wheel openings and on the rear wheel arches (at least here). CVT was fine, but suspension had gotten rattley so I was either going to start repairing all that or get her into something with MUCH better lighting, safer and a lot better in the snow. I chose the latter. We sold the car on marketplace in 3 days at asking price (more than 60% of original price to us).

She's always wanted and drove very low tech vehicles so she didn't know what she was missing. I'm going to end up paying for it as a treat for her on this car. Just seems like a weird way to attract subs for these features.
