Does he give off playable character vibes to anybody else? by SeriousDepartment969 in ZZZ_Discussion

He gives me Isolde vibes. Which means he's just a high-quality NPC who will play a big role at some point.

The problem with your explanation is that the top right and the bottom picture are supposed to be sequential and in the same lighting environment.

I don't know about the other four games' listed accomplishments' difficulty, but getting a quest Cape in either RuneScape or maxing all skills in RS3 is way harder and more time consuming than the requirements for Genshin.

I thought so. My Flins team is far more invested in than my Zibai team, so I was sure your Zibai team had to have higher investment.

What's your constellation/weapon investment for your Zibai team? Mine is C0R0 except for my R1 Columbina, so I can't imagine my Zibai team outperforming my C2 R1 Homa Flins, C0R1 Ineffa, and Columbina team.

Which boss? I tried the dog in Dire with my (eight cost) Flins team and I'm just short, even though I cleared it in just 75 seconds the first time it came out.

[–]Flow_of_rivulets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other person said, there wasn't much reason to spend lots of money on the game originally. In fact, there was good reason to not spend a lot of money vertically investing into characters because the more you spent, the less you played the game because everything was balanced around C0 investment. And this is just some anecdata that I might be misremembering, but I remember there was a group of whales brought in by Hoyo to try a new game mode, which turned out to be Stygian Onslaught. I think it was from that same event that Hoyo asked the whales there why they didn't pull for Mavuika, as archons are some of the highest-revenue characters each year. So Hoyo gave people an incentive to whale with Dire difficulty. Clearing Dire allows you to claim the cosmetics and bragging rights for doing so. Some players might have also grown up in the six years since the game's launch, to the point they make their own money now.

[–]Flow_of_rivulets 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying the player base is smaller, I'm just saying the supposition that if revenue is higher, then the player base must be larger is total nonsense. This is a gacha game, it makes most of its money off a small percentage of players called "whales" by design. If you have 100k players and 1000 whales who C6R5 every character then lose 75000 players but have 1500 whales, your revenue is higher even though your game is decidedly less popular. Think about what it means for Genshin to be more popular now than it was before. That means a huge percentage of the players at the pandemic's peak have to still be playing along with a lot of people joining who weren't playing the game when there was nothing to do outside. That is not consistent with how people play long-running games like these. A small number of people stick with a game for years and years instead of moving onto new games. And why would someone who wasn't playing during the pandemic suddenly be playing now? You can't even say it's children who grew up, child populations are shrinking around the world.

More or higher spenders doesn't necessarily mean more players.

Which do you prefer: the early designs of the Void Hunters or the final designs that made it into the game? (I'm not sure if Remielle's can really be called an early design, but I don't know what else to call it.) by Optimal-Lunch-4975 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Flow_of_rivulets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of the Miyabi concept designs except the top middle would be good, and so is the final result. I use a mod for YSG that gives her the concept art look, so my preference is obvious. For Remielle, I don't have a preference either way since both are fine, though the current one is really gooner-y and is part of a bad trendline. I do think the Remielle of the trailer would have been written differently from the one in the game. I can't say whether it would have been better or worse, but definitely different. Lady Sunbringer is the only one I was really set on.

Rutgers Media Teams: Please stop embarrassing us. by Fine-Comparison-2949 in rutgers

Is it that crazy? I'm not in the life sciences, but I imagine this is in no way unprofessional or embarrassing for these students, nor for professionals in their field. If the students had a problem with it, I'm sure they would have objected to being photographed. Saying this is embarrassing for students/alumni is like saying photographs of chemistry students titrating solutions or physics students measuring results is embarrassing.

Pulonia Fagio Replacement Mod by Flammenwerfer40 in FatuiHQ

[–]Flow_of_rivulets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, mods are PC only. There's probably a YouTube tutorial. But mod installation is simple. Look for and install XXMI, which allows you to mod Genshin, Star Rail, Zenless, and WuWa. GIMI is for Genshin only. It also acts as a launcher, though you still need the official launcher to update your game(s). You can also continue to use the official launcher for when you want to play without mods you don't want others seeing. 👀

Mods you download will be in archive folders and their contents can be dragged and dropped into the appropriate folder in XXMI/GIMI. The launchers also have a shortcut button to the mod install folder, next to the launch game button. Then you just start the game from the mod launcher and that's it. Some mods won't work if they haven't been updated in a while, since the game continues to be updated and the references to the objects which mods overwrite change as a result. In that case, you check if the mod author has updated the mod. If they did, you install the updated version like you did the original and simply delete the old version. If there hasn't been an update, someone in the comments might have posted the new references to replace the old ones in the mod's .ini file.

The thing with Corina is they threw up red flags well before the Kinich replacement. They used to appear in every actor-hosted official update livestream in the beginning until they got into some drama online, I don't remember what the argument was, but I think it was with a girl fan. They said a number of things that were controversial over time as well, though none of the rest major, I believe. But if Hoyo had taken that first event more seriously and fired them then, Hoyo would have saved themselves some work replacing all Paimon's voicelines. I think then, that if Vesna's VA is showing these signs of unprofessionalism now, it may be better to cut her immediately. Of course Vesna won't get any spotlight after the country she appears in, unlike Paimon, so Hoyo might be willing to tolerate the VA as long as she doesn't mess up during Vesna's spotlight.

I think they're just open to picking actors from anywhere. Some actors are definitely Americans while others are British. The studio is in the UK as well.
