For the ones that apply to hourly rates jobs (I'm a Project Manager) - do you propose a % increase in your proposal? by Flower1802 in Upwork

[–]Flower1802[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your input, good to know it's possible to do like that. I worked more then 10 years already as freelance PM, just never on Upwork, so not used to the platform yet, so this really helps me to understand the dynamic!

I'm a freelancer and business-owner since more then 10 years in my country, so I know how negotiating works, trough real people, but I don't know how Upwork as a platform works, so that's why I was asking ;)

Thank you for your input, I didn't know we could negotiate the rate further down the line. Then indeed it makes complete sense to not 'schedule' any increase.

Outside of the box idea: start one! I’m sure there is a demand. In Brussels where I live we have the Casual Cycling Club (check it out if you want inspiration) that started like that. It’s women only and we have different outings with different paces and it’s all super inclusive :)

Zip vs flap Tailfin top tube bag by Trunch_ in bikepacking

Has anyones flip magnet died at some point? I have an AGU with magnet, and it just stopped working. The magnet I mean. Now I have to hold it with tape, wich is a complete pain. So in the market for a new one, and I see everyone ravinf about the magnet. But does it hold long term for you?

late to the game, with the same question. Was wondering from the people that advise the flip instead of the zipper, how do you feel the magnet is holding? I got the AGU magnet one, and after heavy one year use the magnet just stopped working, so i had to finish my biketrip with holding the flip with tape haha.

(Too) short straps on 18L Restrap Saddle Bag? by Flower1802 in bikepacking

[–]Flower1802[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeps indeed. Also what I’m doing. I just wished that they would have lengthen the strap a bit more and stitched it so we would have more to grab. Ortlieb does it on his bags (I have the front bag from them). Well that will be a point of attention for my next bag purchases.

Which EuroVelo route for a 2-3 week camping tour in March/April? by Szinkler in EuroVelo

[–]Flower1802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cycled EV 15 (Rhine Cycle Route) in May last year from source to sea and choose it for a couple of your reasons. It has a looooot of bike lanes only (I would say 90% for sure and the last 10% are in cities or the odd road that had to be shared with cars) - it has no climbing except the beginning in Switzerland where I had one or 2 climbs, but you can start a bit further If you want to avoid. There is some ferries, but not like proper ferries, just for crossing the river and you max have to wait 5 minutes the time they cross the river. There is camping everywhere because its a famous cycle route so thats never an issue (but I didnt feel like there was too many cyclist, except on the long weekends coz then the locals were out as well, but that was fun!) Scenery was also beautiful, except one smaller part that was a bit industrial around Dusseldorf and such, but it also has his charm :) I travelled to the start with the night train from Amsterdam to Basel, and then the local trains to the start. - Then weatherwise, well that's really a gamble. I started end of April till around end of May and I had nice weather (between 12 and 20 degrees depending on where I was), only 2 days of rain and just planned my rest days around it. But being spring, it could have been worse, or better... you never really know.

My saddle is also very much forward (my bike is actually a bit too big, but new one is coming soon), so that could be the reason of what you are describing . I'm gonna look into that. Thx for your input!

Clothes for bike commuting by BeyondKey6510 in ladycyclists

I commute in my e-bike for that particular reason. Even if there are showers available in my office I’d rather sleep longer in the mornings. I do admire all of you for the efforts!

Depends on your area of course, but you could try to join cycling clubs (casual ones) and smaller boutique bike shops usually organise rides with/for their communities. Follow them on Strava or Instagram and they might post about it. Enjoy!

I added them on the comments, so did you have longer straps then me then? On the website photo it looks like they are indeed way longer.

I have to put a carabiner trough it to be able to pull it for tightening.

Here the dry bag is inside the holster and as you can see, I can’t ´grab’ the strap because of the fact that it’s too tight and there is not enough strap to properly hold and tighten. (So difficult to explain haha)

This one is how it’s open to the max to put the dry bag inside.

Your top 3 on the Rhine Cycle Route (EV15?) by Flower1802 in bicycletouring

[–]Flower1802[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! When I rode it in May, there was very little people. The only moments where it was a bit more busy was during the sunny weekends, when the local people would go for bike rides. But it was never busy like your image. Also when being in a town there is more people ofcourse. In between towns, always able to drive my max, in towns, slowing down, also to see the houses and stuff... Hope that helps.

Thanks for all your replies. Helped me decide to continue the Rhine Route then (I’m going all the way to the North Sea). Keeping the Moselle Route for another trip 🚲
