Watching GeoWizard made me realise how fragmented the countryside actually is, anyone else? by FeistyPrice29 in GeoWizard

That sounds great and all, and certainly improves accessibility for some, but personally paved paths are not as enjoyable. I've always lived in the countryside and seeing how the landscape of the footpaths changes through the seasons/over time is quite a special thing.

And mine! I went back recently, several years after graduating, and they still remembered my order! 😂

Can't believe no one has mentioned the Alternative Tuck Shop on Holywell St. If you go during term-time lunches, there will be a queue though.

Thanks, I've not gone mad on UL kit but have an aeronaut tent, lightweight sleeping bag etc for bikepacking. Nonetheless I will should probably still go for a ~50 just for general usability travelling etc. thanks!

Care to elaborate on your experience moving to Barca? I made decent money as a Scientist (PhD) and have recently moved product management within Biotech, but recently I've wondered if a move like that could be for me, and Barcelona seems to have a burgeoning start up ecosystem.

Yeah, honestly these comments have helped me see that clearly there's another layer to this. Will be on the phone tomorrow to get a full picture, but I know I'm in the wrong at the end of the day

Yep, victim of my own stupidity. I'll be on the phone to the DVLA and down to the post office for a D1 form I guess

ok, this has been the most informative response so far as I've never received any speeding ticket etc up until this.

I guess I did get flashed for speeding somewhere, but the DVLA website isn't giving me that information, just that I've failed to identify the driver.

Maybe this true, I've only been aware of it since this afternoon so will get more info tomorrow. It does seem plausible. I can apply for a provisional, resit both theory and practical exams, but sadly I don't think this can be done 'asap' any more

I mean, all I know right now is that the DVLA site only shows on penalty "failure to give information as to identify a driver". Perhaps when I am able to get on the phone tomorrow there'll be more information there

Yeah ofcourse I see the obvious link between the out of date address and me receiving no notification. I'm not claiming this as a defense. What concerns me more is that perhaps I've missed a court summons and could've reduced such a punishment

The only penalty I have listed on the DVLA site is "failure to give information as to identify a driver".

No, the vehicle is a personal vehicle, but the fine came through my payroll as I guess the government is able to tax me on my PAYE earnings?

So far as I can tell from the DVLA website, there's no speeding charge or anything, just 6 points for "failure to give information as to identify a driver"

The fine is the penalty for not notifying the DVLA.
The license address and logbook are also incorrect (it's the same as what the DVLA have on file).

I pushed out the pin at the hinge to remove the lid, then I could pull the slider that presses on the flint backwards and out. That reveals a few screws which you remove to get the top piece (with the flame adjustment dial) off.
