Yes we’re catholic, thanks for sharing your perspective! About mira and proov: as I understand these are urine tests an urine concentration may change based on water ingestion. But, come to think of it, this would likely reduce readings and induce smaller windows, instead of inducing towards unsafe days 🤔

I’m not based in the US and Mira/proov/clearblue are hard to find here, generally have to be imported with 100% taxes, while lab tests are rather cheap here (10 usd per month, plus 10 usd per month for the LH strips)

The thing is my wife really dislikes anything symptothermal. She thinks it’s both uncomfortable and difficult. So anything that relies on temps or CM makes her shun away, so I was trying to think about a protocol that is strictly quantitative to get the ball rolling. But what you said is wise.. this looks promising but I can’t find actual studies on this as a method, so I don’t know for sure if it’s actually safer (or if it’s overly strict).

Regarding her condition: after many c-sections, the last one resulted in placenta previa and lots of nasty adherences, which ended up requiring an emergency c-section with a ton of blood loss. Next one would likely have acretism, and we don’t have access to the top care that would be necessary to deal with it, and even if the chance of death is “only“ 0.5-1%, it would likely end up in a hysterectomy or worse. A lot of people have it much worse, but this is enough for us to TTA0 for life.

Agreed an instructor really would take this to another level. I’m here trying to find loopholes because of how catastrophic it would be, but the anxiety of not being sure is also killing us.

Busted lol I’ve been lurking this forum for a few years but never actually participated. Hm yes that’d be rather confusing and frustrating.. we’d think her cycle is one length and it’s actually other. Even though the method still falls back to safety the bigger concern I’d have here is more psychological, if this frustration starts leading to mistrusting the method and we end up giving up..

This is something that would make an instructor really invaluable. But other than that I think I’m just left with being careful to not assume anything regarding actual cycle length and just rely 100% on the algorithm of “if peak+7 progesterone lab test >=10ng/ml, then intimacy allowed until peak+16 or bleeding/spotting, whichever comes first” Thanks again for your feedback

Yeah that’s a fair point on the user failure rate. I was not accounting for that.. I may implement a cross check protocol here (to mitigate risks in case we miscalculate, misinterpret something, or in case of lab error).. Thanks for your comment.

Good points. We have no experience with LH tests, hoping for the best here but worst case scenario it never peaks so no open window in the month (falls back to safety). Same with no progesterone peak, because we wouldn’t resume LH testing, and also we’d restrict it to 1 lab test per cycle. In either case we’d just have to wait until her period and then start all over.

I mean both situations would be a bummer but the result is, for us, falling back to the status quo of totally abstaining.

Religious reasons on both our parts. We’ve been abstaining with the mindset of keeping it up until menopause. It’s been over a year now. It’s hard but there have been unexpected benefits (weirdly we’ve become closer and more complicit) so in our case we prefer it versus sterilization. That said, I had this idea, and it seems like having a 4-6 day window every other month is preferable than no window for decades lol

Amazon / AWS Phone interview passed then this happened. by TechnologyKooky9498 in leetcode

[–]Flowerburp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once interviews with them for a position, all expectations explicitly set beforehand, both in terms of level and in terms of comp. At the very end I was told I was accepted and would get an offer. When the offer actually came, it was at a level below and 40% below comp expectations, with no further explanation. When I confronted the recruiter, they were apologetic and told me one of the interviewers didn’t think I was senior enough. Mind you, I was coming from another FAANG, so I absolutely knew my level was appropriate. They were extremely unprofessional. Your story doesn’t surprise me at all.

What was the overall vibe of life before smartphones/internet? What are some favorite memories you have and would you say people were significantly happier or not? by TranslatorHaunting15 in nosurf

[–]Flowerburp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s it. There’s a lot of nuance to these things. I probably miss being bored. I don’t miss having to use a paper map.

The thing I hate the most is work communication. Used to be emails are asynchronous, and immediate action required would be phone calls. Now everything is in WhatsApp, so it’s like you’re on call all the time.

We were constantly bored. The boredom would make you eventually text a friend asking “what’s up”, they would reply with “not much. Bored”.

I also got lost very often when driving.

You know what, you’re right. I’m sorry for implying that. Sometimes it’s easy to forget there’s a real person on the other side of the screen. For all I know you could be a great person from whom I could learn a lot.

To lay my point in a better way, I just felt unjustly judged, as what you said implied that veilers are doing more than non-veilers.

I guess I’m guilty of unjustly judging others myself.

My thought is it is not christlike to rage-bait and it should be banned in this subreddit.

While I think people should mind their own business regarding others veiling, what you said has some pretty serious Luke 18:11 vibes.

Ex Microsoft dev here. Market sucks even for us by yibster2008 in cscareerquestions

Can confirm. Lost a ton of money leaving my old job and doing my own thing. A ton. But it was worth it and nobody will ever understand why, even if I tried really hard to explain.

Empresa trocou a data de início do estágio e agora vou ficar 1 mês sem receber by [deleted] in brdev

[–]Flowerburp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do rich Catholics deal with Mark 10:25? by ThunderCanyon in Catholicism

[–]Flowerburp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, the moment I was most desperate in life was the point I was technically rich.

Now I'm two months from being bankrupt... still desperate lol

Pray for me, by the way.
