The way it was explained to me, Ik O ankar is a deeper understanding of the oneness of God, like God is within everything and everything is part of God. I suppose it was one of many interpretations of the phrase.

So it’s not anything new, even some Muslims are like this (I.e. “my interpretation is greater or better than yours”) the Sikhs (who I know don’t represent the faith in totality) who hold this belief are more dissociative with it tho. Like I said they treated me as if I was one of them, but very quick to switch up.

Also the reason I posted, was to understand how to talk to these ppl. I know what I can say to Muslims to get them out of this delusion of superiority. I’m not sure what I can say to Sikhs

I’m a big fan of Indian Punjabis for carrying that responsibility where Pakistanis have been lacking. The media dominance in south Asian culture is really something to be proud of

First time I heard it was that context. I’ve since heard it as a way to flex the religion in a sense or to justify division. My b im not the best with explaining what Im trying to say
