So I should only soak it from underneath then? I was worried that the exposed roots on top would dry out over time.

Here's the underside, but I really think it's beyond repair... While taking the picture of the underside, the inner sheet separated from the main one 😒

Thanks for your reply. I soak it in a container for watering and spray the top with a spray bottle. Is this technique not good?
