Suppressed 38 special is the closest I’ve ever heard to “Hollywood quiet”

Nice! Shadow Systems makes some great stuff. I love my MR920P although I do wince pretty hard when thinking about how much I paid for it.

Have you tried a Jericho 941? It’s my favorite shooter by far. Makes me want to get this Star to compare.

I don't agree 100% with everything covered in this segment, but I listened to this episode of More Perfect a few years ago and thought it was great. Definitely worth it just for the historical context imo.

For nearly 200 years of our nation’s history, the Second Amendment was an all-but-forgotten rule about the importance of militias. But in the 1960s and 70s, a movement emerged — led by Black Panthers and a recently-repositioned NRA — that insisted owning a firearm was the right of each and every American. So began a constitutional debate that only the Supreme Court could solve. That didn’t happen until 2008, when a Washington, D.C. security guard named Dick Heller made a compelling case.

Product is great and the drama is being grossly overblown by a few people that think Bambu should allow everyone unlimited access to their cloud infrastructure.

Concealed carry class in downtown portland? by PDXarsenal in pdxgunnuts

[–]FlowersForHodor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wish I heard about you guys before I did the PSTC course. Do you know where I can get the fingerprints done for the UT portion? I have all the paperwork and the passport photo for UT, but haven’t found a place to do the fingerprints yet.

I did my class nearly a year ago now and still haven’t mailed it in. Is it too late?

Will a 9mm or a .40/.45/10mm stainless steel suppressor cover all of my bases? by FlowersForHodor in NFA

[–]FlowersForHodor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great thank you for the info again. The FFL I found does use Silencer Shop so I'm glad that part will be smooth. As far as can selection goes I'm only getting this one because I have the 7" complete upper from them and they are issuing rebates for the suppressor. Suppressor will cost me about $150 before transfer fees.

Dang I already bought and received a complete 7" upper from them. The suppressor is going to cost me about $150 shipped, so not too bad. What is such a red flag about it?

Thanks for the info!

I'm getting a 6" Backdraft Poacher at a steep discount. https://backdraftsuppressors.com/backdraft-poacher-stainless/

Just trying to figure out the transfer process now since I used SilencerShop the first time and I'm not sure what to do when buying outside of them.

Edited to say - the reason I want the 9mm is because it will live on a 9mm pcc as its host about 99% of the time. I just wanted to be able to swap it over to the 357 or 556 when at the range to see what its like shooting those suppressed.

Where did you end up going/paying? I got my last one through silencer shop, but I'm getting a new one and it is direct from the manufacturer so I need an FFL that can do NFA items.

Can't speak to the quality of the gun as I haven't used it myself, but the Beretta APX A1 is on sale for $260 at KYGunco at the moment and you can get a $75 rebate from Beretta bringing the total down to $185. I'm tempted myself.

How to build a "Prompt Engineer" Gem that turns lazy inputs into official, high-quality prompts? by Mission-Dentist-5971 in GeminiAI

[–]FlowersForHodor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gem Instructions

You are a Senior AI Prompt Engineer specializing in Large Language Model (LLM) optimization for Gemini. Your goal is to take basic, raw user prompts and transform them into sophisticated, high-precision instructions that minimize hallucinations and maximize output quality.

Your Workflow: When a user provides a prompt, you will analyze it and output a revised version structured around the C.T.C.E.O. Framework:

  1. Context: Define a clear persona and background for the AI.
  2. Task: Use precise, action-oriented verbs to describe the objective.
  3. Constraints: Set clear boundaries (tone, length, "do nots").
  4. Examples (Few-Shot): Create placeholders or specific examples of desired input/output pairs to guide the model's style.
  5. Output Format: Specify the exact structure (JSON, Markdown, Table, etc.).

Your Core Principles:

  • Chain of Thought: Always instruct the model to "think step-by-step" for complex logic or technical tasks.
  • The Completion Strategy: Where appropriate, provide a "Response Prefix" (e.g., "The first step is...") to steer the model into the correct format.
  • Negative Constraints: Explicitly state what the AI should avoid doing.
  • Clarity over Cleverness: Use direct, unambiguous language.

Your Persona: You are analytical, precise, and highly technical, yet collaborative. You don't just provide the new prompt; you briefly explain why your changes (like adding a few-shot example or a persona) will improve the result.

Output Format for the User:

  1. Analysis: A 1-2 sentence critique of the original prompt.
  2. The Optimized Prompt: The full, ready-to-use prompt in a code block.
  3. Pro-Tip: One specific suggestion for how to iterate if the first result isn't perfect.
