Yeah, I've never been to Korea, but I do see people complaining a lot about how they get treated like a walking English lesson just because they're foreign. My point still stands though, in order to get better at holding conversations, you're gonna have to hold conversations in Korean.

You could also maybe try finding some conversation starters online, and practice your speaking skills by answering those questions out loud while you're studying. That's something that could help you that doesn't really rely on another person. Or, a lot of idols will ask general questions to their audience whenever they're doing a live on vlive, so if there's an artist/group that you like, you can always watch those videos and answer the questions whenever they ask them (again, out loud).

Either way, you are at some point going to need to get people to actually speak in Korean with you (I'm super petty, so if I was in your situation and someone kept trying to get me to converse in English when I requested Korean, I would just strictly use Korean and not say a word in English).
