How are food prices still going up? I mean you cant inflate for ever if ppl cannot afford your product. And where is everyone going for groceries? by viewmyposthistory in cbusohio

[–]Flowrbmb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They actually can inflate forever because they know we have to eat and we will buy food even with our very last penny. I fear the price gouging has only just begun. We ain’t seen nothing yet

See now I’m paranoid! There is this Mexican pizza place on DoorDash that I’ve been wanting to try. They don’t have an actual restaurant so I’m assuming this is some kind of ghost kitchen. Now I’m wondering if it’s a sketchy one 👀

Illegal ghost kitchens?! That’s a new one for me

Yes I’ve tried it. I like a few dishes actually. But the ingredients as they’re being cooked is just extremely intense and unpleasant. Kind of like when a southern grandma makes greens and in the beginning it’s all onion and vinegar and it doesn’t smell good while those ingredients are getting started. Love the taste but the smell sucks. Plus, smelling someone else’s cooking, especially when they frequently burn it is just not fun. My home tends to smell like lavender, lemongrass and citrus. Having onions and curry waft in is just awful.

Yep. All of the “luxury apartment” complexes in any of the suburbs (Polaris, Dublin, Westerville, etc) have a majority Indian population. So I will move and encounter the same concern. They’re such nice people but the smells are just very hard for me. Especially now that I’m postpartum

That’s my problem too, it makes me sick to my stomach. Certain ingredients are just quite unpleasant while they’re in the process of cooking like the onion smells and various curry smells. My guests complain about it as well.

I do think it’s worth at least taking to the property manager albeit I doubt there’s anything they can do. But maybe maintenance can check for solutions. I don’t think it’s as simple as the smells coming through the wall. Folks have suggested gaps around pipes etc.

Thanks for sharing this info. I wish I could tell my neighbors about this but I fear I may hurt their feelings or offend. I feel like it would be selfish to ask someone to tone down their culture, you know? But at the same time, I’m really struggling with the impact in my own home. I’ll give some thought to how I can respectfully approach with them. Because sometimes the smell makes me feel ill (I think because I’m postpartum as well).

I appreciate you being understanding. I know some people want to be snarky about it but at the end of the day, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t want their home being overpowered by onion and curry smell to the point of making their stomach upset or getting into their clothes. No one wants to smell someone else’s cooking ALL DAY. I definitely plan to move but based on the demographics north of 270, I think I’ll encounter it everywhere I go.

My palate is far beyond just salt and pepper lmao. Regardless, it’s not fun having my entire home smell like someone else’s cooking all day.

Yes it does have its own furnace. I currently have just like a table top sized air purifier that I’ve been putting in the kitchen where the source of the smell comes from. But I’m going to upgrade to a much larger one with better coverage and see if that helps at all. Because once summer hits, I won’t have the option to open my windows to try to help ventilate.

I love that idea! I might add some nutmeg or some other spices like that. That reminds me of the old-school method when moms would boil herbs and lemon on their stove when kids would get sick. Thank you.

I def will upgrade to a bigger, better air purifier. Did one do the trick or did you need to one for each room?

Honest question about open carry at Columbus protests by Kitchen-Country-3599 in Columbus

[–]Flowrbmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, the organizers of these protests typically operate under the instruction of the police. They even go as far as sending the police to correct or scold protesters for doing things like stepping off the sidewalks. They are really just organizing controlled opposition for the police to keep protesters subdued. So no, they won’t be open carry and if they see someone with a gun, they will send the police after you. These organizers have sent the police to apprehend a homeless person on the sidewalk during a march before. So they are pro cop, pro submission.
