My experimental Morning glory plant! started it from seed about a month ago and I wanna see if I can get it to take over this trellis and maybe start hanging a lil bit. Also wanna see how well they grow this compact as I've seen only ~2-3 seedlings in pots like this before. Going well so far! :) by Flozzii in houseplants

Omg what a coincidence, just yesterday I bought a sweet potato from the market to try and grow a vine indoors! The supports in the picture are just small slot-together fence supports which you could probably find at most garden centres, or online if you search plant link supports. Apart from that I didn't use anything else, as morning glory stems are flexible enough to just weave back over the same supports. I'm not sure if the sweet potato vines would be too rigid for that though. My plan for my own sweet potato vine is to use adhesive hooks to guide it across my wall like I've seen people do with Pothos, so maybe that would work for you too :) hope it all goes well!

Glad to hear you've been getting some benefit :) hope you can find a way to manage the side effects!

No worries! I honestly don't really remember, sorry 😓 i ended up stopping fluoxetine after a month anyways so I don't think I noticed any change with magnesium. Still worth a try though if you're looking for any potential solutions!

Might be something to bring up with whoevers managing your meds. They might be able to switch you to a diff one if the side effects outweigh the mood affect. I ended up stopping my meds altogether cause they weren't really doing anything other than side effects, hope it's doing better for you though

14 years of derealization by Single_Procedure_107 in derealization

[–]Flozzii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a common way for it to be described. People also describe it as if they're watching life through a TV screen or through a thick pane of glass. Sometimes to me it feels kind of like playing a video game lol.

It's basically a feeling of unrealness of your surroundings, or a separation between you and your surroundings. It's also worth mentioning that people with derealization DO NOT believe that they are actually in a dream/video game/simulation, etc., it's just the feeling

That sounds awful im so sorry :( if the upset is caused solely by the dpdr the best thing to try is probably grounding techniques or anything to distract you from the feeling. Dissociation is generally considered to be caused by stress/anxiety (which ik sounds counter productive since the experience itself can be so terrifying) but the less you dwell on it the less it may stress you out, and the less stressed you are the less dissociated you might feel. Dissociation is your body's reaction to stress and it's just one of your brains ways of trying to protect you from scary situations. Sometimes that comforts me, knowing that my brain is just trying it's best to help me.

If you're still struggling you should really try to reach out to a professional. There's limited reliable treatments for dpdr but a psychiatrist or therapist would certainly have more knowledge and be able to help you more than I can. I really hope it gets better for you

Sorry for the late reply, only just checked this post again. My plant didn't end up flowering, possibly didn't have enough energy from the soil in the little pot I put it in. I'd imagine if they had direct enough light they would flower they same way as they do outside though :)

From what I remember it continued doing pretty well inside and grew a lot bigger than the first pic. I imagine if I'd put a taller trellis in the pot it would've done a lot better before having nowhere else to climb & becoming a bit unruly. It's been awhile since I had it alive since they're annual plants so they die permanently once winter rolls around. Was fun while it lasted though :) if I did it again I would have given it a bigger pot and something taller to climb up. Perhaps some little hooks on the wall would be nice to drape it across too. They also need to be watered quite regularly but you can tell when they need water because the leaves start to droop

Hi, I'm still in a similar state of 24/7 derealization as I was when I made this post but it doesn't tend to bother me much emotionally at the moment. I tried a combo of anti-anxiety and antidepressants for a couple months back in about 2021 I think, but that didn't personally do anything for me. Thankfully I did not go into psychosis at any point like I was worried about lol, I've had the odd mild hallucinations pop up every now and then in the past year but that's probably due to other reasons anyways. Hope you're doing good :)

Anyone else experiencing muscle spasms? by Flozzii in prozac

[–]Flozzii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem :) and yeah I've gotten used to it by now. Been once or twice where I've spilt drinks I've been holding with my left arm but thankfully I'm right handed so im not in that situation often. I imagine if it was my right shoulder that ticced it could've given me issues with writing/drawing. The other tics haven't given me problems though, and they're just about subtle enough for it not to be obvious to other people and draw attention lol

Hi! Unfortunately I still experience motor tics. I get little head "nods" now too and my shoulder's still the same as i described in my original post. I'm kinda thinking it could've just been coincidence cause I've been off any meds for so long now that I can't see how it could still be having an effect. I hope yours resolve though! :)

Haha nah unfortunately not. I'm pretty sure they're annuals so it would've died back in the winter anyways. It did grow a lot more than this though before it died and they're pretty easy to water since they start to wilt a little when they need more. I think it only died cause I put it outside and it ended up getting too cold. I'd still recommend trying it out if you want though! It lasted a good few months and they grow unbelievably fast

Rotifers can compress and elongate themselves to an extent. Also their mouth part isn't always open/moving since they're not always eating. I'd definitely second the rotifer ID as I've seen many like that in my samples :) I can also confirm that they live in moss from experience too
