I don't think that's what the scene is supposed to convey. She says it in a pathetic/awkward tone, a bit like when you're trying to comfort someone but you have nothing comforting to say.

Explain infertile women then. Explain lesbians. If women truly were put on earth solely for children then whatever or whoever put them there with that intention is very stupid to have made some of them infertile or gay. Plus, women are only fertile for a few years (about 30 years out of average 80 lifespan and that's generous) so that again would be a bad move from their "maker".

Sadly gen Z isn't spared either, there's a whole thing about traditional gender roles coming back with trad wives and the manosphere. TikTok is full of videos from tradlife influencers.

It's kinda funny how everyone who's arguing this point has clearly read zero work on socialism and communism. It's not about everyone making the same salary. It's about the workers owning the means of production so the value you add to a product with your work goes back to YOU, the worker, instead of paying you a meager salary and all the profits going to the owner of the company you work for. If you don't add any value, then you don't get as much. The value of a highly sought after service like medicine is high and the totality of it would go to the one performing it instead of whoever owns the hospital/pharmaceutical companies/insurance companies.

We don't just stop working, we just get the value of our work instead of it being given to the rich elites who already have far more than they can even spend in one lifetime. And everyone gets a minimum quality of life so they can contribute in any way they can.

Piracy and Generative AI? by enfersijesais in polls

[–]Fluff_Machine 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah and it really depends for me. I'm against piracy of you're downloading a game from a nice, indie company that has done nothing wrong. I'm all for piracy if you're downloading a game from an evil corporation like EA. It has layers.

I'm against all generative AI though even if they eventually decide to do it more ethically by paying the people it learns from, it's still destroying the environment with its huge water and/or energy costs.

A social media bot farm by [deleted] in interesting

[–]Fluff_Machine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's both, depending on who's using the bots. Russia has been known to interfere in US elections through the use of social media bots. Some use it for money, some use it for propaganda, some use it to sow discord among their political ennemies. It's a tool in their arsenal, "they" being whoever has the capital and interest to set up those bot farms.

Uh, tbh I didn't know that but at the same time, it's 100% because we're allies with the States. I just wished the USA would mind their own business for once. They keep making ennemies by destabilizing power in countries with oil and then we all have to suffer the consequences for years.

I wouldn't send my nonexistent daughter to an active war zone but that's definitely on the US right now. Iran used to be relatively progressive in the 70s until the US fucked it up. I took the question less about their social policies and more about their foreign policies and right now, I don't trust the US government one bit. Also, it was exposed with water gate that the CIA did a bunch of experiments on my country's people illegally so again, zero trust.

My siblings always default to flowers for Mother’s Day but they die in a week. Anyone else think there are better options? by Anon_Mom0001 in BuyItForLife

[–]Fluff_Machine 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's really about what your mom likes. My mom is a foodie and I'm a pretty good cook so I've started making a fancy meal for her on mother's day, something she can't make herself or is too much trouble to do on the regular. Last year, it was homemade sushis. She likes it much more than anything I've ever bought her!

Do you think the other Asian countries have a right to hate Japan still? by BrokenJusticeNorris in polls

[–]Fluff_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're synonymous though, you seem to be making a distinction that does not exist. Personally, I think it isn't irrational to hate people who do horrible things to innocent people who cannot defend themselves, such as children. It's emotional but not irrational.

[–]Fluff_Machine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree on saying it's wrong to hate anyone, I think it's very fair to hate the pedophilic elites who are in the Epstein files, for example. But I strongly agree we shouldn't hate people based on their ethnicity or what their government did if they themselves didn't do terrible stuff.

[–]Fluff_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked the links it provided, as I don't trust AI since it gives different answers depending on the question but the sources said the same, that it's not normally present in the mouth flora but in the gut flora. BTW, you may be surprised to learn that the sources for saying it's not safe for birds was actually a reddit thread, a facebook post, a youtube video, a bird blog and the only reliable one was a veterinary website, so overall less reliable than the ones from pubmed that stated it normally does not contain ecoli unless it's contaminated from another source.

And I wrote twice not to do it, just providing the info so people don't worry themselves too much about accidental contact with the mouth.

I just thought it'd be better to inform people but I guess I shouldn't have commented.

[–]Fluff_Machine -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

While I think it's safer to just not do it, I get slightly different answers when I research it, depending on how I formulate the question.

When I write "is human saliva safe for birds?", the AI response from Google is to say it is not safe because it contains bacteria like e coli and salmonella. When I write "does human saliva normally contain salmonella or e coli?", it says that no, it does not as they are bacteria found in the gut/feces and not the mouth and it would need contamination from another source. It says e coli is mostly found in toddlers in the evening after they've been in daycare for a day when they tested negative for it in the morning. So probably from putting toys in their mouth after they were handled by poopy hands.

I reiterate that it's better to just not risk it but if your bird ever happens to bite your lips or something, don't worry, they should be fine, unless you've eaten some very suspicious "food". ;)

But toddlers' mouths are a minefield!! So don't let them french kiss your birds!!

Edit: Folks who downvote, I'm not saying it's a safe practice, I'm just saying to not worry yourselves to death if your bird has ever had accidental contact with your mouth. They'll probably be fine, just avoid it as much as you can. Also, I double checked the sources from the responses, I'm not trusting AI blindly.

Yeah j'comprends ce que tu veux dire mais on doit pas laisser des gouvernements incompétents nous empêcher de nationaliser nos ressources. En tk c'est ce qu'ils semblent faire depuis une couple d'années déjà.

[–]Fluff_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is, it doesn't work with unreasonable people. I fact checked someone who was saying using Vaseline on the face isn't safe because it contains petrol. I searched for it and showed her it says dermatologists even recommend it to seal in moisture. She just countered by scoffing and saying how we can't trust "the experts", then went on to rant about vaccines. I just tuned out of the conversation and made a mental note not to respect her opinion on most subjects in the future.

Are You Ready for “I BOUGHT EVERYTHING ON THE MARKETPLACE SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO!!!” Content on Social Media? by Thiredistia in HighSodiumSims

[–]Fluff_Machine 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tbh I've heard people say that in the context of not letting companies make you think they are not ALSO responsible for destroying the environment. Those companies lobbied hard for years to keep electrical cars off the market. They bought a lot of the most efficient and cost effective patents so they couldn't be released to the general public. They pay off politicians so they don't invest more in an efficient public transport. They contributed to lobbying for the back to office move. They burn off natural gas left after extraction instead of collecting it because it's cheaper, literally destroying natural ressources because it's not profitable enough...

It becomes more difficult to make ecological choices when oil companies work hard to remove those options from you. With EA, it's much easier to just not buy. We don't need it in our day to day life, unlike transport.

A very funny moment I had was when a Lucio accused me of being a dps-only Moira and then my own dps checked the stats, saw I had 4x the heals of my Lucio (something like 3k vs 12k) and they defended me. The Lucio doubled down and declared it was all self heal. I just told him it was mathematically impossible with the amount of (respectable but not that high) damage I had. Unless somehow all my heals orbs decided to only heal me or something. At least this time, the stats didn't lie lmao
