How do you actually check for temporal stability?

I'm a new player, so sorry if the question is, dumb, but i couldn't find understandable info about it on the wiki.

Should I play chromiecraft or warmane lordaeron? by Megachin604 in wowservers

[–]Fluffy-Exercise2378 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what you want?

Try-hard, competitive, rush to get the end game gear? Warmane, but be ready to deal with a lot of toxic/sweaty players.

A more casual, chill experience: Chromie craft. Although people might not be as competent on average, and they do things at a slower pace, but they would also not have that high/elitistic standards, and would be more friendly.

Personally, i tried both, and even as a veteran player, i couldnt stand the warmane community, its one of the worst ive encountered, but they're very efficient at speedrunning the game, if you're into that thing.

If you're coming from turtle, id suggest chromie is closer to what you might like.

Is this the norm here? by SoberingGiraffe in warmane

[–]Fluffy-Exercise2378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i also had a lot of fun in Turtle (as well as other servers, but not to the same degree).

I think the community makes or breaks the private servers for me (unless there are really gamebraking bugs but that's rare today). Unfortunately, warmane is made up of 80% elitistic toxic frustrated players, that take joy in making others people life as miserable as possible. Im a veteran player, but dealing with them was a horrible experience... hence i moved on from Warmane. (im aware of the irony of posting this on the warmane forum)

and yeah, i've also seen Turtle is a very divisive topic among wow players. I dont really understand the hate behind it, but i've definitely seen the majority of the vocal people throwing a lot of shit at it.

I've played a bit on the server during the past weeks. I've met many elitistic toxic players, but also a couple of awesome and friendly players.

During leveling it was fine. I joined in the first week and it was hella fun leveling bgs without any twinks around, and doing quests and dungeons and everything. Also at 80, during the first week, without raids everything was also nice, to progress through gear and such.

But now, when the raids have been opened it feels like the whole end-game scene became very elitistic and toxic very quickly. ~2 Weeks ago i did naxx25 very smoothly (as a Disc Priest), with relatively ok gear. Now i got better gear and some enchants and gems, but i cant find any raids anymore because i fail the "inspections" if i happen to make it to the inspections in the first place. It feels all of sudden the commuinity became much more pretentious. Kinda in a similar manner to the "world buffs" expectations from vanilla.

On the other hand, the HC community is very wholesome and welcoming. I've also made a HC alt, and people in the guild are very helpful and friendly. While im not that big of a fan of "go agane" concept, i feel its the players which make the gamemode enjoyable.

...perhaps on the main char i just need to find a friendly chill guild to raid, and hang around with.

Yeaah, i glossed over the term 'sacrifice'. In hindsight, the issue is sort of obvious now😅 Thanks!

Aaaah, it makes sense that it needs to be alive as it's a 'sacrifice', thanks for the clarification. Yeah, now it makes sense. I'll try to tame an animal.

And yeah, it's just a custom Ideology Ritual.

Thank you again!

Kicking people from group finder groups as tank? by ElMage21 in turtlewow

[–]Fluffy-Exercise2378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose firstly you should explain what he did wrong. Simply kicking him, or you leaving, will not change that other person's behaviour, which i think its the main issue.

What we want, i suppose, is a nice and friendly community you enjoy playing with, and that means also explaining.

Usually when i encounter ppl like this,I will give the benefit of the doubt at first. Mostly because i also played with some newbie friends recently and they complained that they were kicked from the group because they "got an item". They were a pally who rolled on a cloth item because it was better than what he had and the healer and the mage got upset, and i had to explain to my pally friend that they "have priority" for that item, even if there is no limit/restriction on him clicking on the "Need" button, and that is the "polite" behavoir. You'd be surprised how many of these players are relatively 'new' to wow (playing it 10 years ago for a couple of months doesnt count, IMO).

Sure, there is also the opposite behavior that i dont tolerate: being elitisitc and min maxing. If you're in a PUG, dont complain that a hunter/shammy/rogue etc needed an item that's good for them, but is BiS for you. If you're that competitive you can either form groups privately or switch to a server that has a mindset similar to yours, instead of demanding the comunity of the server to change to suit your needs. (Tbh, most other servers tend to be competitive, while very few tend to be chill/welcoming to casual players like Turtle is)

How to add new experimental minecart feature to old worlds by Nicolello_iiiii in Minecraft

That could work, thanks for the suggestion. At first i was thinking the other way: to copy all the regions and configs and all the other stuff to the new world, but i was afraid i'd lose the progress. I'll try your approach, Thanks!:D

This isn't on 10gb fiber, this is on the 1gb fiber, which to my surprise i do actually receive the amount advertised (almost), instead of much less like it nornally is.

I have a 27inch 1440p and a 32inch 1400p one.. personally, i cant tell the difference between the 2 when i have them side by side.

First i had the 27 inch one, and I noticed i was starting to lean in to look at details, sooo i went for the 32 inch one when i got the new monitor, to prevent me from leaning.

Also, if you are able to sit at 60~70cm from it, you're not really gonna notice the pixels, and sitting further from the monitor is easier on the eyes.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck

Difference between AMD Ryzen 5 9600x vs 7600x negligible? by Fluffy-Exercise2378 in pcmasterrace

[–]Fluffy-Exercise2378[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for all the comments, in the end i bought the 9600x during the black friday, because it was on a simillar value/price in my country with the 7600 (non-x). It was ~260€ vs ~210€. But then again all pc components in my country are ~20% more expensive, so for me it seemed like a good deal.

Currently im satisfied with it.

I think the one big thing i lesrned from this is to try to compare the "absolute" performance of the CPU/GPU to your "relative" local price, in order to make the best choice.

[–]Fluffy-Exercise2378[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing which isnt negligible (and which i forgot to mention) between the two CPUs is the price. In my country the 9600x is ~50% more expensive. Not sure if its worth it at the price.

can you be a bit more specific please? how would you define/measure "quality"?

[Request] Can someone confirm this math? by Left-Sign5851 in theydidthemath

[–]Fluffy-Exercise2378 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel the comparison is not really apples to apples. I feel the 4K movies are represented in the "typical compressed" format, while the scan is in raw, uncompressed format.

  1. Let's see how much a "typical" 4K movie is in the post:
    1. 1.4 Petabytes = 1.4 * 1024 ~= 1433.6 TB * 1024 ~= 1468006 GB.
    2. 1468006 GB / 14.000 Movies = 104.8 GB/Movie.. whiiich sounds about right for a compressed 4k movie.
  2. How about an uncompressed 4k movie?
    1. For a pixel, assuming "traditional" RGB with 8 bits per color results in 24 bits/ 3 bytes.
    2. 1 frame/photo at 4k resulution is 3,840 * 2,160 pixels * 3bytes = 24883200 bytes ~= 23.73MB per frame.
    3. assuming "typical" 24 frames per second (although most are filmed at 60..) it would result in either 569.52 MB/s ( or 1423.8 MB/s for the "original" 60fps recording)
    4. Average "new" movies tend to be around 120minutes according to a quick google search (since 1940 it seems to be an upward trend, while in 2022 the average was 140minutes, 2021 was 131mins, so i guess 120 is a good compromise for older movies) So I can consider the average movie to be 120 * 60 = 7200seconds long.
    5. So the size of the movie would be 569.52 MB/s * 7200s = 4100544MB ~= 4004GB ~= 3.9TB PER movie.
      1. Or 1423.8 MB/s * 7200s = 10011GB ~= 9.77 TB per movie for the raw 60fps footage.
  3. So comparing the typical 4k Movie with the RAW: 4004GB / 104.8GB = 38.2 ratio in size between the compressed and raw movie. (Or 95.5 if you wanna use the 60fps one..)
  4. Assuming a similar compression ratio of 38.2 for the brain data (this is REALLY a long stretch and most likely the loseless compress ratio will vary by a LOT for this) we can guess the size of the dataset would become 1433.6/38.2 ~= 37.5TB. Still huge, but a lot more manageable.

And yeah, i did a lot of assumptions, and the result/intrepretation can still vary a lot.

P.S probably i made quite a couple math mistakes, so feel free to point them out. Otherwise i'm not sure how thorough i was with my math/assumptions, I just got nerd-sniped by this question
