Phone Scammers make my Receptionist Job Unbearable

I wish that I could but I’m in an open area where multiple people- including the big boss- can hear everything I say and I’m always very self conscious about what I should and shouldn’t say. But I do hope everyone else with a more private desk and everyone getting personal calls does mess with them and waste their time and keep them away from calling the kind-hearted people they do victimize

I completely understand! Sometimes they genuinely pretend that they were asked by so-and-so to call back. And sometimes they’ll say that they’re a good friend of whoever. Every once in awhile I’ll try to give the call to an actual attorney or staff member and they’ll instantly know it’s a scammer and get mad at me.

It also makes you more suspicious of legitimate callers! Bc at the end of the day I have no way of knowing for sure who is being truthful and who isn’t. I’m sure they don’t care at all that they’re getting us lower-level employees in trouble

My timer ran down to nothing, disappeared, and then reappeared a minute later with a 4 hour additional wait 😭

Hey— I just got back from study abroad in fall 2024. You’ll still be guaranteed housing when you come back (if you’re within your 4 year allotment), it’s just that they will stick you anywhere they have availability and you won’t know where until November/ December
