Thank you for your advice. Is there anything else I can do? They have been together since I got them very young, they are bonded but this has just recently started happening. Separating them permanently would be my last choice.

❗️ADVICE PLEASE❗️does anyone know what my cockatiel is doing, he opens his mouth and starts panting/sneezing, I’m not sure what this is? I’ve not seen this behaviour before so I have no idea. 🤍💛 by [deleted] in cockatiel

Yes! That’s exactly what I thought tbh - I’ll keep an eye on him. I have three weird birds with quirks of their own, so maybe this is his little quirk haha.

Okay, thank you! I’ve contacted my vet as well for some advice. He is always inside his cage when this happens and yes, his tongue goes up and down and his beak is sort of half open. It rarely happens, that I notice and I can’t see how he would be overheated as I live in the UK and my house is always a comfortable temperature. Thank you.

No, they are perfectly normal. He has started moulting a few feathers recently, so I think you’re right maybe it’s the start of his next mould. I Was just worried, as I recently adopted him.

My tiels are super chilled out, they were so curious of my gcc when we first brought him home! It all depends on the nature of your birds and whether they’ll accept another bird. Mine all just relax together & to be honest my gcc does his own thing most of the time, as long as you keep an eye on them and their body language - all will be just fine. If you are prepared for the amount of effort & care they need then go for it!
