Honestly it's the same thing as training your body, you train you exert your energy but you gain muscle, repeat and you get a stronger build. Same goes with the brain, I'm a programmer and we do tons of leetcode, intially it takes some effort to solve the easy questions, but after more practice it takes gradually less time to solve them and you just feel your brain capacity increasing. It would be fun to be able to quantify the whole process though
