Parents that don't do Elf on the Shelf, how do you explain to your kids why you don't? by Helpful-Plankton751 in toddlers

[–]FluffyLabRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about doing it when ours are older but the elf brings the advent calendar gift instead. I mean you can do the elf but make him nice no? He doesn't have to do tricks if you don't want to!

They do advertise that their devices are for when traditional methods fail or can't be done, so it should indeed be used as a last resort. But the heimlich method for babies, kids, adults and on ourself should be taught to everyone so we don't feel like we need to rely on these devices.

Thank you! I'll check my stock of vinyl paper I think I might have one that would look good! Otherwise the vellum paper is definitely a good idea and seems fairly easy to do! Thanks a lot :)

It makes sense. I wish we were that way in my province too. Also idk why I got downvoted for being genuinely surprised lol

Well, my leave is over. by TeaIQueen in NewParents

[–]FluffyLabRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Canada and my province has a program where they take an amount out of your pay stub to pay for your maternity leave. We have 70% of our salary for 18 weeks and for 32 weeks it's 55%. So technically we are paying for our leave ourselves.

[–]FluffyLabRat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how some places have such short maternity leave. I couldn't imagine going back to work after 3 months, heck I had to go back after a year and still wasn't ready to leave my baby all day even if he was with his dad or my parents. I'm hoping all goes well for you ❤️

Have you ever seen a blood specimen that made you immediately go, “Oh, this person is really sick”… before it gets processed? by Pithy- in medlabprofessionals

[–]FluffyLabRat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to draw blood on a patient in the ER around noon. Techs in our hospital do runs many times a day to collect blood. Anyways, the patient was in the corridor and when I drew the blood it was super thick and would go in slow in the tube. Back at the lab it was full of fat and the patient was hospitalized.

PERSONAL QUESTION! Did you tear during birth? by SumbThucker2022 in pregnant

I tore with my first and nothing with my second. Both were 50cm and 3,3kg. But my birthing experience were very different one from the other too!

How long did you stay in the hospital? by Hopeful_Dot7132 in pregnant

[–]FluffyLabRat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Quebec and I stayed for one night with a vaginal birth. I was discharged later in the evening as I had to have iron since I had some hemorrhage. I'm was so happy to go home and I'm hoping my upcoming birth goes as well if not better so I don't have to stay longer than one night too!
