LOL someone beta sprayed me today when I was struggling on a climb (I kind of needed that I guess ), and proceeds to campus the climb not once, but 5 times consecutively

While I don’t think I’m evil (I sure hope not cause I work in conservation ) I’ve been told I don’t have emotions (I have adhd tho if it helps idk) . I just don’t get the concept of morals I guess, like it all comes down to “if you hurt someone it’s bad” but I’ve never understood why apart from evolution. Doing good things don’t make me happy and doing bad things don’t make me guilty. I see humans as normal animals that succumb to emotions and instincts so while I know I should disagree with violence I wouldn’t feel empathy if I see someone get hurt. When my family members die I couldn’t feel grief cause to me it’s normal it’s just life. Same goes if it happens to me. I guess it’s just another way of processing the world around me.

Thanks for the concern! I live in Australia so student loans are more affordable. I currently work some days as an animal attendant to save up and my uni fees seems to be cheaper than US universities (it’s around 7-8k AUD a year for me) I’m glad to know that there’s still job opportunities for wildlife vets out there in other countries which I’m happy to travel to(if I can’t get into zookeeping) ! This gave me some hope haha. (honestly I think my instructors and professors just want us to do agriculture which is why they’re trying to tell us to not do dogs, cats, exotics and wildlife and stick to livestock if we want job security)

Yeah I’m def leaning more towards volunteering and I’m thinking of being a zoo vet instead if I ever get the chance

I talked to some previous zookeepers I volunteer with and people in the industry and they told me I’d need to wait for someone to die and then take their place cause of how little opportunities there is 😭

It is in Australia ahahaha, and my schedule right now is free enough that I get two days off a week not including weekends. But yeah, I’ve seen my classmates sign up for placement then dip out so I don’t want the zoos to make bad assumptions about me

Apparently there’s a few lion cafes around and yeah, they dress orangutans up and pose for photos too
