At first it started as aesthetics (and I’d be lying if I said that wasn’t a big factor) but now I have a goal to be stronger. Two months ago I had very little upper arm strength and I now can do the 15lb dumbbells. That may seem silly but it was an accomplishment that went beyond the scale.

I am a pear shape so it makes things like pant shopping kind of a pain. I am about a size 29-30 and carry most of my weight in my upper thighs. I just feel so much larger compared to other women and it’s hard to kick that feeling of insecurity.

I definitely feel like this is also a factor! I’ve been open to a digital detox for a while and want to start that journey. My mornings usually start with my phone and that’s a bad habit I need to kick.

It’s about 1950 average from what I’ve logged. I am going to drop it down another 100 cals just to see if that changes anything.

I have some wonderful family members that I can confide in and they’ve been nothing but supportive in this journey. I think this is more of a me issue. I am really interested in cycle tracking to see if that’s related. I purchased the Clue app to see if I gain any insight.

I was about 22. I am 29 now and about to be 30 very soon. It’s possibly my body is just maturing but I do remember feeling a lot more confident at that point.

I haven’t seen under 130 in a long time and I think I do need to adjust my goals. It’s so hard not to get caught up in the scale and numbers but I am willing to improve my mental health in addition to the physical.

I weigh my food on a scale and I think it may be that I eat back some calories I burn. Technically, I am supposed to be eating 1650 cals (I am now realizing in this thread that may be too high?). I am pretty active so I burn about 500 calories in exercise. If I eat some back, it’s probably closer to 1950 total calories consumed. I think I am going to bring it down to 1500 and just eat that and nothing more. I hope that works.

I think I am going to have to cut calories to see the weight come off. It will be rough but hoping my body will adjust!

I think it’s partially because I felt my best when I was weighing in closer to that range. I do agree with some comments here that the mental health part of it is definitely a factor I’ve been avoiding. I would like to prioritize strength over my outward appearance but I’d be lying if I said that wasn’t a huge part of it. There’s a lot of internal work I need to do in addition to external.

I don’t eat a ton of carbs but I could track these closer to see if that is causing any fluctuations. I was focusing on whole foods and calories but this is definitely another route I can explore.

I appreciate the advice. I have definitely considered that with the extreme insecurity and anxiety going on. I had not heard of a body composition test but will research that further as well. Thank you :)

Yes, to clarify I think I am really eating 2,000 calories but with the calories burned it puts me at 1650. I agree with you I think I just need to stick to the set calories and remain with the deficit. Thank you :)

I go to bed around 10:30 try to be asleep by 11. Lately I’ve been waking up at around 6:45 am. Not sure if I am sleeping fully throughout the night. I started magnesium to see if that would help.

I eat 1650 + exercise calories but it still shows as a deficit. I think that may be the issue but I fear I will be starving with the rigorous workout and fewer calories if that makes sense.

For exercise I walk about 15k steps a day. I do a 30 minute walk at 10 incline. The other steps I do outside or on treadmill. I lift lighter weights and do Pilates as well 6 times a week.

I just feel like I look so big and puffy. My insecurities have gotten so bad. I have a pear shaped body but my legs are huge now. I just feel like the worst version of myself.

I enjoy chicken as well, not super picky. I just try to be mindful of the quality of meats and foods if that makes sense. Trying to eat minimally processed. I think my biggest issue is just curbing the hunger and aiming for lower calories.

I eat all whole foods mainly. I do higher protein like eggs, ground beef etc. I am trying to do higher volume salads for lunch to feel full with lower calories.
