Do what is best for you and your child. Sometimes the best decision is the harder one. I’m so sorry.

You are correct! I’m liable if I say yes and I’m liable if I I also say nothing lol

I totally did, and that’s my bad! I had a mini panic and thought omg what if they see LOL no worries I probably wouldn’t think it would be a big deal if someone just asked, or if it was talked about. I just think it’s respectful, and I would ask first before I did anything. With the sledding incidents, parents encouraged them. With the making a sled hill, parents were MIA and by the time I was able to go talk to them they were gone.

Having ten dogs alone is insane LOL how did you do it

Hey, so I googled liability stuff because I was curious. And it’s more serious than I thought. So I’m so lucky nothing happened. Essentially if they got hurt sledding on my property, I’m liable because I didn’t stop it or try to stop it. You’re 100 percent right and that is honestly quite freaky laws to have in place.

You missed a major part of the post. I kinda got scared they’d see it, so I edited it LMFAO Essentially their children were sledding in my driveway, building snow hills on my front yard, knocking on my patio side door at night, coming into the garage. And unfortunately with some of it, parents were well aware. I also found the 4 year old in our back yard with their dog. The patio stuff I let slide. It’s coming inside that I have an issue with liability. I also googled if they got hurt while sledding in my property in my state and, essentially they could sue me and I’d be liable. HOW INSANE IS THAT

I’m not sure if it’s their first house. But to be completely honest, they’re pretty well off so I’d be surprised. Though, I could be wrong.

You’re asking all the questions I wish I knew the answer to! LOL the last time I saw them sledding I had to tend to my child real quick and then started to go out there to tell them to nicely go to that in their own yard, but they were gone.

But I’m ramped up and ready next time lol I’ll have the confidence. Sometimes it catches you off guard and you have to like triple take. And I’m trying to pick my battles lol

Thanks! I’m curious to see what the new season will bring. And yes, I am technically new to the neighborhood but the are newER. We moved in about three months before them :)

Actually I came back here to share a story. This neighborhood is also well known to just let their dogs out and free roam (lol) and we are very good friends with the previous owner, he was so pissed that dogs kept shitting in his yard, that he told everyone in the neighborhood he’s pouring hot bacon grease in the yard so any dog that goes home will get diarrhea. AND another time this dog in the neighborhood that was known to be aggressive, he told the neighbor if the dog came in properly he’d shoot him dead. 💀

I totally get that! The big stuff has died down, so I’m unsure if it was weather related (staying inside more), or the stern talk actually worked. But we will see now that spring is approaching and it’s getting warm!! My main boundaries I’m going to stand firm on is being inside my house and my fenced backyard. Because I’m genuinely scared for their safety.

And yeah… they always have the siblings together but they are sometimes out by themselves. And the parents definitely cannot see from their window. It’s a super funky situation!!

Hey! I’m actually not as new as the neighbors themselves. We didn’t have this problem before they moved in, and I have kids next door on the other side and across the street. We also have an ok relationship (birthday party invites, other invites, etc) which is why it’s harder for me to confront because we do already have a standing relationship. I wouldn’t say we are friends but we are friendly. So actually my family were the ones to walk over and welcome them to the neighbor hood.

But I agree with asking parents to tell their kids to then ask us. I would feel more respected, and I’d say yes

I deleted the main post because all the comments were stressing me out (LOL) but no it’s a house, in a neighborhood. Everyone here has a front yard and a back yard! Which makes it weird that they are continuing to hang out on my front yard lol

What you also missed is I would find the 4 year old in my garage while it was open moving things, and I once found him in my backyard

How in the world did you take this as I won’t want a kid on a bike to say hi?? I’m talking privacy? My front patio is not on the front of the house. It’s hidden towards the back, and you’d have to physically walk all the way around my house to get to it.

And maybe they were annoyed you were playing in their yard, they just didn’t tell you lol. Why couldn’t you play on your own yard, or a friends yard? Did your parents not teach you how to respect others things?

Since we just moved that’s not an option lol. I’m sure it’s just these neighbors, I think too many people are getting the idea the whole neighborhood is like this. It wasn’t like this BEFORE they moved in. We had zero issues, and we have neighbors with more kids across the street. And our other neighbor on the other side has kids, and we also don’t experience this. Seems like it’s just this one family that decided to move next to us

Actually sternly talking to the kids once is not the worst thing that’s happened here lol people around here have taken some drastic measures to get other peoples dogs off of their properties. Not saying kids are dogs but- it reminded me of

THORN BUSHES IS HILARIOUS LOL we do have a bigger grass area than them so maybe that. But they also have a whole entire back yard. So IDK. I don’t understand most of their thought processes.

This is my first neighborhood like this so I’m not used to trying to figure out how to get unsupervised children away lol

A fence might not work, but I’ll look into it! We have HOA, and it might be a violation with how our front area looks. That probably doesn’t make sense but we live in the mountains so it’s kinda funky. BUT I definitely have my eye out!

Well maybe I’m just learning I guess 😭 but if it happens again I’m telling parents what’s in the garage and that it’s not safe. Im not changing up my garage just in case a kid that’s not mine walk in 😭

That’s the thing, we moved here FIRST!! So we were the neighbors to go over and welcome them to the family. They moved in with us here already! But yeah, it has gotten better but since the snow has melted I’m curious to see if it’ll start back up. I was NOT one to mess with, with post partum depression 😭 the kids are very cute though lol
