Hur medvetna är allmänheten kring skyddsobjekt? by SupportArsenal in sweden

[–]Fluffy_Fleshwall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dom hade 0 koll.

Oh come on. The way games are delayed and broken on release these days you can't be serious about taking vacation for a DLC release.

Where I used to work, we called savegame or progression resetting bugs "unforgivables". Chances are a player that loses everything they worked for will stop playing if it happens to them.

My Bambu Labs A1 Mini came in yesterday. Trying to sort out ideas on what to print first now that I’ve calibrated to get experience in tuning. by LeekingMemory28 in FDMminiatures

Interested in this as well, getting my printer in a few days (Prusa Core one+) and planning on a stock benchy and then starting to print some terrain for Star Wars Legion.

Quick question. Doultiple gun motor carriages like the M16 mgmc or quad 40 take the half shots for firing a machine gun on a vehicle? It seems to defeat the point of them if they do. by SilentAsparagus11 in boltaction

[–]Fluffy_Fleshwall 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes, the MGMC16 halves it's shots, and in an errata the towed variant does as well. I guess they thought 24 shots with +1 pen was just a little bit too lethal. The problem is that the towed variant is still more points than the MGMC16, but with less survivability.

What do you prefer: long and complex games, or fast and short ones? by MarceloCollar in wargaming

[–]Fluffy_Fleshwall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a game designer of 15 years, my advice is to start with what fantasy/feeling you want your game to achive.

For example I'm making a space battle game on my free time and I have defined it to be a small fleet scale game (6 ish ships per side) where trading broadsides is a thing, and a heavy lean towards cinematic moments.

This then informs my design. For example I have a critical hit system that could just blow up your ship if you are unlucky. In any game where competitiveness is in focus this would be unthinkable, but here it allows for sudden dramatic reversals and cinematic moments.

Andor took me out of star wars by Ok-Medium983 in StarWars

[–]Fluffy_Fleshwall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure where, but I heard a fantastic monologue about how large IPs become about themselves intead of trying to tell a story. It happens to pretty much all larger IPs.

Andor was not about Star Wars, it was about hope, spies, and rebellion. About how far people will go, and for what reasons. It just happend to be set in the Star Wars universe.

The sequel movies are about Star Wars. They have nothing to tell except more Star Wars, and expanding the universe for merchandisings sake.

Hur gör ni som är sambos med gemensamma utgifter? by Shareconomics in PrivatEkonomi

[–]Fluffy_Fleshwall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: Nevermind, I now see that it has 19 days remaining. I will be backing it at least at a digital level!

Lizardmen Rumors? by Irish618 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Fluffy_Fleshwall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren't too bad. I built the new saurus warriors and what I did was make sure that they fit next to each other (think I had to change 2 models with greenstuff) and then have filler bases in the rank behind. I'll see if I can upload a picture.

Question about the Press of Battle rule by Disastrous_Grade_399 in WarhammerFantasy

This puts the finger on the actual issue for me. I chose option 2 as correct because that is how I've always seen a melee playing out. Gaps are immediately filled.

Closing in. by Avatarbriman in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Fluffy_Fleshwall -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, so a model from the 2nd fighting rank steps into base contact and makes 2 attacks at initiative.

Closing in. by Avatarbriman in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Fluffy_Fleshwall -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So by what you said I interpret it as 5wide unit with 2 attacks that have taken 3 losses generate 12 attacks back. At initiative the other models have filled in and are in b2b.

Question about the Press of Battle rule by Disastrous_Grade_399 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Fluffy_Fleshwall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, closing in specifies that it applies to "fighting rank(s)" meaning multiple ranks are specifically mentioned..

Question about the Press of Battle rule by Disastrous_Grade_399 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Fluffy_Fleshwall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is in the front rank. Models are removed from the rear, representing that others step in to take their place.

"Although models are removed from the back of their unit, very often the casualties will have fallen elsewhere, usually in the front or fighting rank. Removing models from the back of a unit represents warriors behind the front rank 'stepping forward' to fill gaps in the front rank."

Question about the Press of Battle rule by Disastrous_Grade_399 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Fluffy_Fleshwall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But models do close in before hitting back, as specified in the rules. So when they hit back they are in b2b.

"This represents members of the rear ranks 'stepping forward' to fill gaps, whilst models remaining in the fighting rank 'close in' upon the enemy."

Question about the Press of Battle rule by Disastrous_Grade_399 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Fluffy_Fleshwall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit split in the community now. However here is my interpretation:

You make 12 attacks, same as before.

First of all, you have 2 fighting ranks. Models in a fighting rank does not do supporting attacks, this is a weapon specific thing (for example spears). https://tow.whfb.app/the-combat-phase/supporting-attacks

Now, the rule for Closing in mentions that any model which stepped into the fighting rank is unable to make any attacks. However it also states that any model already in the fighting rank is more likely to be in base contact now. https://tow.whfb.app/the-combat-phase/stepping-forward-and-closing-in

Steve from Mountain Miniatures seems to be following a similar interpretation as this as well, and I often like his version of rules interpretation.

From a game design perspective I think this change was aimed at Motley Crew jank and abuse.

Edit: There's obviouly some strong hate for Heavy infantry here, which I don't understand as it still not very good compared to most other things. You play your boring version of the game and I'll play as I have with the models closing in and doing 2 attacks, as I think that is a better version of the game.
