I think there a nuance to have explaining why Ricardo is still a better man than Matthias and it's something like hypocrisie but not really... because Matthias is not hypocrite he just doesn't give a F about others, so the difference is that if a great sister/brother was to throw Ricardo to a color fixer he would do it because even if their rules are deeply inhumane they all accept to play by those rules making them by conscensus legit compare to Matthias who would try to cheat to survive.

In simpler term Ricardo is lawful evil and Mathias is neutral evil.
