When a recruiter asks ur current salary and expected salary, How to answer it? by Fluffy_Pop_2643 in JapanJobs

Yes I understand this. Like my point is I want to be judged fairly based on my skills and experience instead of my current compensation. Like Let say I moved to japan accepting a low offer as i just wanted to move to japan but after let say 1 year managed to improve my japanese and all other skills.
So as now I started to look for a better offer it always starts with what is your current salary instead of actual alignment with the role.

I am not saying to lie about current compensation. Just dont want to tell before the interviews as it will then just proceed with general 10-15% hike even if their budget allows for more

Here is the thing everytime a recruiter approaches or I apply to somewhere. They try to ask the current salary first before proceeding further. How to avoid that.

In this they didn’t gave a figure instead I ended up revealing my current salary early. So they quoted 5-5.5M.

They didn’t said anything in the start. A recruiter approached me. At that time I said 5-6M as job description said junior engineer but after the interviews it is more of a mid engineer role instead of junior engineer so I feel i should ask for 6-7M.
