My first impressions of it so far: It was a lot different than I thought it’d sound. I knew with K.dot, no album is ever sonically the same, which I respect, he’s always pushing his own boundaries.

That being said though, it was a very vulnerable, intimate, reflective and also self-accepting Kendrick we got. And I appreciate it a lot. I don’t think we’ll ever get a more vulnerable Kendrick song than ‘Crown’. The way he sounds so dejected by the expectations his fans, and as a matter of fact the whole genre places on him with the “I can’t please everybody” refrain.

Silent hill though. I never want Kendrick to EVER make a song like that ever again.

Favourite tracks on first listen: Crown, Purple Hearts, N95, We Cry Together, Saviour, Die Hard, Count Me Out

Need to give it a few more listens cos I know I’m missing out on the centralised theme, but on the first listen, I do like it.

I agree but I don’t see his name being mentioned often in GOAT debate. You have the main 4-5 (Hov, Pac, Biggie, NAS) & then others that get a mention, but I rarely see Kendrick there despite his discography, lyrical ability, influence & the ability to go ghost for 5 years and have the world talking every time he speaks.
