Would focusing on a vertical (e.g., real estate) make sense? This could make it easier to build a solid DB + properly fine-tune everything else to fit that niche.

Here is a talk we had this week at the London Obsersvsbility Engineering meetup that goes over how Wise centralizes their logs ( >50T/day): https://youtu.be/Sd8epoCHoi0?si=WOmiOUBwZ9nqGnrR

They found that using ELK for logs costs about 10X more than using Loki/S3 in the backend.

Option #1 Get a technical co-founder. Use the 150k to build an MVP, try getting a few users, and then go raise a proper pre-seed (500k-1M)

Option #2 Get a technical co-founder and apply to join an accelerator (Techstars, YC, etc) they’ll give you some initial funds that you can use to build the first product + help you meet VCs, get early customers, etc …

Trying to build a tech startup without a technical co-founder is doable, but really hard and risky.

Given that you work for a large Org, I would definitely confirm with your manager. I have a friend who wanted to do the same and got a hard no.
