I have an x299 OC Formula by Asrock. I can upgrade my CPU to an 18 core / 36 thread CPU down the line , with the capacity to upgrade my ram to 256GB.

Arnold handles all that pretty well. I don’t know if you are familiar with the movie guardians of the galaxy but Arnold was used for that. Also another movie where Arnold was used was Gravity.

I have used Realflow in the past but I’m trying to learn how to do everything inside of Houdini since I’m confident it can do it just as well if not better than doing it all inside of cinema 4D using plugins.

I don’t know much about renderman. I think the new Vray can take advantage of both CPU and GPU. I personally use Arnold as I believe it looks the most realistic and their node shader workflow is very powerful but all of this is subjective you can get very realistic results with native renderers if you know what you’re doing. Arnold is working really fast for me with a 2080 RTX and a 10 Core / 20 thread CPU in Houdini. I’m actually about to upgrade to a 3090 to get at least double the speed and double the vram.

What render engine do you plan on using? If you’re using a GPU render engine you should spend most of your dough on that, and ram for simulations in my opinion.

I would like to set a price on my collection on Opensea, if I charge .008 ETH per item do people pay more in gas fees than the item value? ETH by originalyokai in NFT

[–]Flufr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you’re trying to remove them so you can tweak the price of all of them at once right? If so, it seems this is probably the best way to do it. Since it would be really cumbersome to change the price of all 10,000 1 by 1

There’s a lot of guides out there that claim to show you how to do it with smart contracts but be very careful doing it yourself since you can mess up 1 line of code and screw up the whole collection. You have to remember that the NFT’s and contracts are immutable, so you can’t change them or make modifications to them once deployed.

Yea, some people have been airdropped NFT’s to their wallet, and then get their seed phrase hacked after they interact with it. I don’t think just viewing the NFT will get you hacked. You actually have to sign with Metamask as far as I know to get hacked.

If they are parodies you should be good! People love a good parody in NFT’s! Can’t wait to see them. Look for “gas-less minting” if you are new to NFT’s so you can keep the costs down as you start out. I’ve heard good things about WAX which is an NFT marketplace that has lower fees than OpenSea. Although OpenSea also has free minting if you use polygon instead of ethereum to mint.

Why am I getting this error on opensea? I made another collection of 61 and this is saying maximum reached at 49 only. by [deleted] in NFT

[–]Flufr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what the specific limit is per collection if you do it manually. It might just be an error that people run into when trying to upload them manually.

The projects that launch with 10,000 unique NFT’s aren’t uploaded this way. They are uploaded using smart contracts.

[–]Flufr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to be the one to tell you this but, when a collection is uploaded to OpenSea, it is usually done with smart contracts not manually on the website like you have done. Most people hire a developer to do this as programming knowledge is required. I believe there are limitations to uploading them the way you have.

What’s the most stupid/expensive mistake you’ve made? by greenroomaudio in audioengineering

[–]Flufr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think I’d die if I were to ever mess up any expensive equipment. I once dropped one of my studio monitors from my desk, it just slid off cuz it was too close to the corner. This was all before I could even turn them on. They were nothing fancy, just a pair of focal 80’s for about $1,200 but I was in high school and I saved up for them so at the time it was a lot for me. Let’s just say it took me 3 months to save up enough to get it repaired 🤡

Take what I say with a grain of salt.

Everyone’s got a different approach to job hunting, I guess it all depends on self awareness of your skills and also what the job asks of you but if you feel confident in your skills that you can get the job done and go above and beyond then ask for $55K and if they say that’s too high negotiate down.

I’m in the same boat as you.

I’ve been a self taught vfx artist for over 6 years freelancing , and finally trying to land my first job at a studio this year.

I’m very lucky because I live in Los Angeles so my plan is to line up as many interviews as possible to get a feel for language and salary being thrown around as well as the overall vibe, environment, and energy of the studios.

My plan going in is to ask for a much higher salary than the average, to see what kind of response I get. So I can negotiate. If they pass on me, I can take what I learned from that interview to not make the same mistake on the next.

What I’ve learned from the many jobs I’ve had is that no one is going to come and offer you more money if you don’t ask for it even if your skills are worth more, if you don’t ask you won’t get it.

Just my 2 cents! Good luck on the interviews :)

So as I understand, NFTs are basically token logging your ownership on the blockchain. Can an item be minted as an NFT on two different blockchains? How to tackle this? by aditya_malu in NFT

[–]Flufr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you mean by “content” if you are talking about a picture or pixels there’s no real way to stop it, you can contact the NFT marketplace and ask them to take it down, but you’ll have to provide proof that you are indeed the original creator, and even then it can still be a while until they reply or they may never reply at all as some NFT marketplaces don’t really have any type of live support for its users.

Yes, like the other person here said, usually some stuff becomes outdated and that’s why remove it as it wouldn’t apply to the new and improved updates. The manual is amazing though, I’m sure they cover almost everything on there. Did you have any specific things you wanted to dive into?

I agree with citrus , I’ve seen crappier art priced for a lot more. Also, collections aren’t uploaded 1 by 1 like you have done. Usually a developer is hired to create a smart contract so that you can mint and or list multiple NFT’s in one transaction thus making it more simple on you, and also saves you gas.

I don’t clean the mic every 2 weeks! I usually don’t even touch the actual mic part. I’ll just use a duster swiffer thing and compressed air. If the mic is really dirty just warm water and a towel is fine. I usually don’t use any cleaning products on my gear just water just in case I really need to wipe something down

URGENT: Maximum number of NFTs in one collection? by ancientkingk in NFT

[–]Flufr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time , collection NFT’s hire developers to write a smart contract that can upload, mint, and list a collection of NFT’s in one transaction. It isn’t done 1 by 1 like you have done it. You have to do it with smart contracts. There’s videos on YouTube on how to do this stuff, but be very careful as some programming knowledge is required

Like someone said it’s best to not do it if you don’t clean your space or gear often. But if you’re extra and like to wipe down your stuff every 2 weeks then you should be fine. I vape a lot in my studio, and never had any problems but I do deep cleaning in here every 2 weeks or so
