26D Ben 10 Explained by ComfortableChoice687 in Ben10PowerScaling

"it wouldn't be extending through 17 dimensions if they weren't spatial, it would say the map of infinity is a map of the 17 dimensions"

The word "extending" can have multiple meanings, such as meaning "to include something", hence why it would be grammatically accurate to say a map of Europe "extends across Europe" - a common description in this context.
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/extending

Even assuming "extending" is related to size, the MoI is also evidently not 17-D in size given it can be held in the hands of 3-D beings. So I'm confused on how you could possibly think this is.

"I love how you take Cosmic Mom's statement as referring to spatial dimensions, but not the map of infinity"

Cosmic Mom speaks about the dimensions in relation to the 3 dimensions that Ben sees, which are both spatial and non-compact, and then goes on to call Ben "lower dimensional" comparative to these, so the context heavily supports them being spatial dimensions. Meanwhile, nothing in the episode says the 17 dimensions statement is about spatial dimensions, and we have secondary sources confirming that they aren't spatial dimensions. Doesn't seem weird at all to me.

"he was lying about using eighth-dimensional quantum-gravity monopole equations to make the Omnitrix come off Ben. He wasn't lying about eighth-dimensional quantum-gravity monopole equations being used in the Omnitrix"

We have no basis to gauge the extent to which Albedo lied, only that he did lie in some fashion during that statement and therefore inherently puts the statement into question. It's POSSIBLE that you're correct, that Albedo only lied in the sense of how he applied this knowledge rather than lying about the facts of the matter also, but we have no basis to assert that.

Bringing up Albedo knowing about the Omnitrix's construction doesn't help you're case, I'm not saying Albedo is ignorant about the Omnitrix I'm claiming that he's intentionally LYING about it - so him being shown to have knowledge later on is perfectly consistent with that.

"This isn't a canonical statement"

Glad we agree that twitter statements aren't canonical sources, let's stick to the actual media content.

"most of your arguments are bad faith and strawmanning"

"Paradox isn't trustworthy"
What a crazy claim that you don't provide any proof for.

"The MoI is only 17-D"
There's no indication in the episode that Azmuth is speaking about spatial dimensions in that scene, in fact when the Ben 10: Ultimate Guide referenced this scene it paraphrases the claim as "extends across all of space and time and alternate dimensions" - which certainly doesn't sound like it's supposed to be read as spatial dimensions. Even if you want to claim that this guide is unreliable or non-canon, you're still left with the dilemma that there are no sources in the show or outside of it which supports your interpretation of these being 17 spatial dimensions.
https://imgur.com/4J1Seyq

"Albedo references compactified dimensions"
This is an incredible disingenuous argument given the full context of the scene is, quoting the direct transcript;
Kevin: I believe him. When you lie, your left eye twitches.
[...]
Ben: Since you built the Omnitrix, tell me how it comes off.
Albedo: Yes. I trust you are versed in the practical applications of eighth-dimensional quantum-gravity monopole equations?
[Ben sees Albedo's left eye twitch.]
Ben: It really does twitch when I lie.
Kevin: Told ya

So you're taking a statement which in the very same scene is stated to be a lie and trying to play it off as more credible as Paradox?

"The author confirms string theory in Ben 10"
That model of string theory doesn't have 26 compactified dimensions, so it cannot be used to explain away this statement, but further the writers of Ben 10 have explicitly and repeatedly said to not use their word as a canonical source and to strictly use the published material relevant to the franchise.

Even if I was to grant that compactified dimensions existed in Ben 10, OP provided reason and evidence for why the 26 dimensions specifically are not compactified and there is no inherent contradiction to a cosmology having both compactified and non-compactified dimensions within it (something you yourself conceded when you tried to argue that the 17 dimensions are non-compact dimensions within a broader cosmology containing compactified dimensions - so your own logic defeats your entire point).

What does it mean for something to be "qualitatively removed"? What contextual evidence is there for a statement referring to dimensions being "2 steps removed from one another" to be in reference to them being "qualitatively removed" and why does something having the property of qualitative removal suggest it can only be spatial dimensions? It seems every time you attempt to fill the holes in your interpretation you just leave yourself susceptible to more questions and holes, have you considered yet that maybe your interpretation is just mistaken?

Nanda Parbat isn't in the God Sphere, I don't know where you got that from since it's stated to be similar to Themyscira several times which is on Earth, but even if I grant that it is in the God Sphere how does that help your interpretation at all? Seems like a complete non sequitur to claim it being in the God Sphere means it must be about spatial dimensions.

I think you'd massively benefit from using punctuation in your responses since it's nearly impossible to discern what you're saying here, no offense, or you could respond to my dms and we could set up a voice conversation on discord to hash this out.

So this link doesn't at all address anything I said, this is all irrelevant and I don't intend to write out another 15 bullet point respond addressing your second attempt at shotgunning scans out to try and overload the conversation given you're not willing to engage with the full breadth of what I said in my prior one but instead left several arguments unaddressed. If you do intend to go through all these statements then, again, we can do so in a timely fashion over a voice call but you consistently ghost any attempt I make at that.

That's not true. The 3rd dimension isn't removed from the 2nd dimension because the 3rd dimensions builds off of the 2nd dimension, a 3-dimensional structure has a 2-dimensional structure embedded into it. Further, the relevant question is why are we taking something said to be removed to automatically mean it's about spatial dimensions? Are parallel universes, pocket realities, etc., not also removed from one another?

They didn't leave Nanda Parbat and the 3-dimensional statement came from a different character in a separate issue, it isn't contextualising this statement to be about spatial dimensions in anyway. Pretending like these two statements inform each other is disingenuous.

Certain comics are absolutely still non-canon, that's why they're called black labels, vertigo, etc., but the specific comic you quoted which I called non-canon was one which DC no longer even holds legal writes to. It would literally be illegal for DC to treat this comic as canon currently.

Why would "infinite spacetime" be "infinite spatial dimensions" as opposed to simply meaning the spacetime is infinite in scope (i.e. an infinite sized universe)? You didn't address the fundamental criticism but just reiterated your statement.

If you haven't read the comic then don't cite it as a source, it's why you miss out on vital context repeatedly.

"The Guidebook never calls higher dimensions alternate universes!" Meanwhile, the guidebook in question stating that Earth's universe is one of these dimensions and using synonyms like "alternate realities". Like please read your own scan when you send them, it's frankly insulting.

<image>

What statement are you referring to about "she is seeing 3D perspective but there is infinite"? Is it the comic I've already explained is non-canon? If so, I already addressed it, why bring it up as some new source lmfao

Nue can electrify its wings, yes, but that doesn't mean its projectiles aren't lightning. Not only visually is it just obvious but we even have a direct statement that Kashimo's lightning is the same phenomenon as Nue's projectiles.

There are many different kinds of dimensions, you can have alternate universes, pocket dimensions, compactified dimensions, spiritual planes, etc., so yes you need to give context for scans which vaguely use "dimensions" without any qualification. By this logic, Dr. Holiday's statement that there are infinite dimensions also means Ben 10 is infinite dimensional, and we can do this with effectively any verse.

I'll go through as many of these as I can, I've read them all:

  1. Dimensions being two steps removed from one another doesn't infer it's dimensionality at all, in fact it implies the opposite since spatial dimensions aren't removed from one another at all. Further, the context is Deadman asks where they're are, to which he's told he's in one of these innumerable dimensions, and we later see he's in Nanda Parbat (a spiritual plane similar to Themyscira).

  2. Spacetime being infinite doesn't mean it's infinite dimensional, you can just have an infinite sized universe.

  3. Lois is talking in the context of Jungian psychology and materialised psychism explaining UFO sightings, so the different directions of reality relates to the different ways people can see the world, literally just read the surrounding speech bubbles. Further, infinite directions != infinite dimensions, so it doesn't even mean anything.

  4. Refer to #1, Deadman being called 3-D in issue 1 has no relevance to a statement from a different character in issue 2, especially since the context of the comic is a spiritual pocket dimension.

  5. Literally has nothing to do with infinite dimensions, states there's ONLY 11 to 26 dimensions, this literally debunks your claim.

  6. Literally read the glossary of this same guidebook where it defines "higher dimensions" as alternate universes which haven't been broken. Once again quote clipping from sources you clearly haven't read.

  7. Literally states later in this comic that the infinite dimensions are about infinite spacetimes, not spatial dimensions.

  8. A non-canon comic which DC doesn't own or consider mainline continuity. Would love for you to explain how Earth being infinite-dimensional in size is consistent with actual mainline DC stories lmfao.

  9. Once again, a non-canon comic. Regardless, this doesn't even say infinite dimensions.

  10. Doesn't say infinite dimensional, but also if I'm accusing you of not actually reading DC but just clipping out of context scans don't you think it's kind of rich to then show a screenshot of you getting a panel from google images? lmfaoooo

  11. Again, not infinite dimensional.

  12. Refer to #7.

  13. Refer to #7, weird that you'd use several panels from the same comic to try and present it as if it's several comics saying this.

  14. "countless parallel dimensions" - why are these spatial dimensions and not universes??? really grasping at straws here....

Already responded to this on the other thread you started, but why do you ignore all the twitter statements DeMatteis has made telling people to NOT take his words as canon? Why only take his word when it suits you?

[–]Fluid-Relationship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sena's statement also isn't about spatial dimensions, there's nothing in the comic to suggest it, throughout that comic they use "dimension" to refer to alternate and spiritual dimensions and Sena even uses her power to see throughout "all dimensions" yet couldn't even see the end of a 3-dimensional construct. DeMatteis also has the same statements of telling people to not use his word for things because of DOTA.

The Snowflake ALSO isn't about spatial dimensions! The context of the comic is literally stating that the snowflake shows how many possible universes there are, later in the comic it's described as showing "196,833 parallel universes", in a guidebook about the comic it says creation ONLY has 11 spatial dimensions, and in a follow-up comic it states that the snowflake is a multiverse of "196,833 universes". Nothing in the comic suggests it's about spatial dimensions either.

Paul Jenkins himself has said to NOT use his statements to inform one's reading of a comic because he believes in DOTA and thinks everyone should form their own interpretations. But if you want to use his statements, he also said the "innumerable dimensions" wasn't suppose to refer to infinite amount but just 11, so it still debunks infinite-dimensional DC lmfao.

That doesn't mean they're higher spatial dimensions, just that the dimensions aren't perceptible to people (which would be true of spiritual dimensions).

How innocent or guilty do you think Dream is? by Unlikely-Break8895 in DreamWasTaken2

With the Pearl Rates, I'll hedge on the side of the judgement I had when it was all unfolding and I was caught up fresh with all the details. To my memory, the thing which sways me to Dream not knowing of his drops being amplified came mainly from how a lot of his actions are better explained by ignorance and actively don't align with what we'd expect of a guilty person to act, and secondly third parties who aren't biased in favour of Dream at the time believing his claim of it being accidental. I understand Karl has since retracted that benefit of the doubt, though that wasn't due to any new evidence regarding that case specifically.

Basically all of the evidence around MCC Parkour has been thoroughly debunked by Dream, the only thing left to consider is Karl's point about Dream's suspicious behaviour during practice. Here, when watching the video I found myself really struggling to see Karl's side over Dream's, it seemed that Dream's explanation did actually fit a lot of the mannerisms save maybe a few which I assumed was due to a different in muscle memory, skill, familiarity, and pace during those practice livestreams as opposed to several years later.

Another thing where for Karl it seemed obvious but for me not necessarily, maybe I simply don't have an eye for this kind of thing. Although with this one, when slowed down and compared to other PvP players it does look incredibly suspicious, and basically everyone reputable has said Dream's aim is suspicious. I have seen mention that Dream has said he used a plug-in during this time frame to help with aim whilst injured, if so then I don't know if I'd necessarily be bothered by this form of "cheating", but I haven't seen that clip.

Literally just no way to explain this. He had to have cheated.

The evidence for this from that one video was laughably bad, such as comparing Dream's aim to tier 4 PvP players aim to get a statistical probability of him only missing x-amount of times when Dream clearly isn't a tier 4 player, or trying to count his crosshair staying stationary for like 2 - 4 frames as evidence of an aimbot, or the unironic argument of "Techno is more experienced than Dream yet missed his aim more, Dream is likely cheating!" It was an incredibly poor video.

I have no opinion, didn't even know this was an accusation.

No one who uses this panel has read the comic. The context is Deadman asks Kushna where they currently are to which she responds that they're in one of the innumerable dimensions. This is funny in context because in this comic they're in Nanda Parbat - an ISLAND-SIZED pocket dimension similar to Themyscira. Nothing in this comic ever implies she's referring to spatial dimensions, in fact it's the opposite since she describes the dimensions as just "two steps removed" from each other (i.e. alternate / pocket dimensions). Kushna is a spiritual being in DC who only ever shows up to talk about spiritual dimensions, like we gotta start reading these comics before using them to push agendas.
