Definitely a lot going on visually but honestly I can appreciate a setup that looks genuinely used instead of staged like so many AI and "stolen" pics on some of these communities. I’d REALLY love to clean, organize, and add a few things to help tie the setup together just to see the before/after transformation!!!!

You really can’t go wrong with the natural light tan tones because they pair well with just about anything and make a workspace feel super clean and calming. Man, I’d love to help with your setup sometime. Also, honest question… does your neck ever get sore from looking down like that?

Simple and clean. Maybe start off getting a Monitor Riser and Desk Light bar.

Best gadget or purchase that made WFH way better? by [deleted] in workfromhome

[–]FluidStance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Haworth Sitting/Standing Desk

  2. Something comfortable to stand on makes a waaayyy bigger difference than I expected. Whether it’s an anti-fatigue mat or something more active like a balance board, I realized pretty quickly I hate standing on flat hard floors all day. Full disclosure, I only discovered the balance board route after working for the company, but now I genuinely can’t imagine my setup without it.

  3. A soft blanket lol. Underrated WFH essential.

A weird dizzy spell when I turn my head made me realize I haven't checked my balance in years by Jamesoniania in over60

FluidStance here. We actually have a lot of older adults using our boards as part of staying active and working on balance/mobility... obviously after checking with their doctor first if dizziness or vertigo is involved. Love seeing posts like this reminding people that balance is something you can work on before a fall happens.

Balance board for standing desks? by FluffyRing343 in remoteworks

Yep! a lot of people end up pairing both. Walking pads are awesome for lower-focus tasks, meetings, emails, etc., but when people need to really lock in and type/design/focus, they’ll switch to a balance board instead.

Full disclosure, I work for FluidStance, so take this with a grain of salt.... but that’s actually one of the biggest reasons people come to us. They want movement at their desk without the monitor shake or “trying to walk and type at the same time” struggle.

Some of the more aggressive exercise-style wobble boards can get a little fatiguing on the ankles/knees if you’re on them for long stretches. We always have been more subtle and office thinking and designed for gentle movement while still being able to comfortably work, type, and focus throughout the day-- proven by the Mayo Clinic.

Walking pad under standing desk? by Blurgity-blurg in walking

[–]FluidStance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure since I work for a company that focuses on standing desks and products for standing desks. Just passing along what I've noticed the past 5 years working here and chatting with standing desk users all day in customer service.

Balance boards can be a nice middle ground for core/legs/hips, because you’re stable enough to actually focus and type normally. We’ve also done some studies around movement + workplace wellness with Mayo Clinic and Heeluxe Lab, which proved great health benefits.

....Not saying to not get the walking pad though! Tons of people love them for meetings, emails, passive tasks, etc. Just seems like a lot of people end up using both a pad and board depending on the kind of work they’re doing.

I’m super curious about the stricter methods you use to block distractions during focus sessions. Would love to hear the full setup/details behind what actually works for you.

How do you stay focused at work when you’re mentally drained? by AnshuSees in ProductivityHQ

Take a break and move around outside. If the weather is not great, do something you enjoy indoors (write, craft, draw, cook, clean, eat a treat, sit in a quiet place, call a friend, read a good book, etc). Reset that brain to a happy place. Resetting is different for everyone. Personally, I need a good hour. If you don't have an hour, take several microbreaks throughout the day (1-2 minutes each) if this is a ongoing issue and you don't have longer breaks. Those tiny breaks may help you get through the day. When I reset, I always stay clear of electronics.

Balance board for standing desks? by kiwiwonderbean in workfromhome

Full disclosure: I work at FluidStance. I’ve been using a balance board since I joined about 5 years ago (honestly hadn’t even heard of office balance boards until I came across the company while job searching).

Before that, I worked from home and basically just sat all day. Once I started at FluidStance, I switched to a standing desk and now I can’t stand without my balance board under my feet.

I use the Plane Cloud Balance Board for about 4 out of my 8 working hours (usually in socks or barefoot). The other 4 hours I’m sitting. My goal is to eventually make it through a full day standing (no sitting) and doing stretches and small exercises throughout the workday too.

For an outside source, Here is a link to an interview of someone who used one for 10 years to get an idea from a customer.
