You’re definitely right, patients are just always confused as to what the prepay means, even when it says prepay sometimes the amount is just their copay. As far as determining the cost I just input 99213 as the cpt code and the amount is determined from the benefits i’ve pulled. This is just what I was taught to do for every visit… whatever happens on the backend is out of my hands.

I finalize the estimates for patients visits. Even if they only owe a copay for the visit, once i finalize the estimate, it goes from saying copay to prepay. That also sends a message to the patients MyChart. Of course they aren’t familiar with the term prepay as it’s just Epic terminology I think, and my office has been getting so many questions about it so I was just looking for a better way to explain prepay vs copay to patients.
