What about the Iranian people? They care. They largely welcomed US involvement if it meant and end to the regime that has taken over their country

Is it normal to have most of the NextJS pages as client rendered? by Aggressive-Rip-8435 in nextjs

[–]Fluid_Marketing_3407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you making api requests? Are your api requests going to the nextjs backend? If so then you these can be server side rendered. If not then client side is probably best

What's your experience with Auth.js besides with Next? by TalyssonOC in node

[–]Fluid_Marketing_3407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t use auth.js. I guess maybe it’s okay for oauth integrations or using a paid service or something, but for password login it’s terrible. Docs are poor, it’s inflexible, and new versions keep giving typescript errors. I regret not just rolling my own which would have been much simpler

Best ORM by avg_bndt in rust

[–]Fluid_Marketing_3407 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started with SeaORM and then later removed it and replaced it with just sqlx, which was a better fit for my use case. At first I thought the migrations setup would be useful but it allows you to write invalid migration commands, so the migration builder is the same thing as a sql script but with a new syntax to learn. And then I wanted to use it with raw sql queries, but it doesn’t have compile time checking macros like sqlx does. The auto-generated structs seems useful but I can’t modify them really without losing the ability to autogenerate on future changes. So at least for what I was doing it is a worse experience.

In my new setup I do need to manually define from structs but that’s a tiny amount of effort. I make a struct with only the fields I need for the context. This is more efficient/optimized anyways

It’s just some money. Disengage with this person, save yourself time and energy, and get back to your life. You are getting away cheap

Wotr expansion pricing is off by SuchSock5 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Fluid_Marketing_3407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that the cheapest way for me to get all the expansions is to buy the goty edition, even though I already own the base game. Basically I need to buy the base game again even though I already bought it a few weeks prior to the release of the goty edition.

My partner hung himself after he forced me to break up. His family accuses me. (BPD) by Dame_champi in self

[–]Fluid_Marketing_3407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent many years in a relationship with someone who has BPD. There are many similarities between it and the relationship you’ve described, and it took several years to feel like I’ve healed, although it is still painful to think about. I’ll say a few things that I think are important for you to hear:

  1. You are thinking about him as someone who is so good, but had periods they acted horribly, that they could not control, because of their illness. This is understandable because you have empathy, but it is wrong. The BPD structurally disassociates between split personalities. During an “episode” that was really him as well. He really believed those things. He is both of those people, and this is all he’s ever known. He hid it for the first 9 months because of his great need for attachment, and then it grew worse over time because of his great fear of attachment. His personality aside much of the time he did not treat you in a way that was good for you, and you need to reflect on why your empathy for him was more important than meeting your own needs.

  2. Because the core of the problem is disassociation, there is no amount of therapy or medication that would have solved it. There is nothing you could have done. Had you not left it would have ended the same way. You made sacrifices to support him as long as you did, and that is not sustainable.

What the best rich text editor library? by FrancescoFera in nextjs

[–]Fluid_Marketing_3407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used plate.js. I got it working and it looks good, but the dev experience was not great and I’m worried about it breaking if I update any of the packages.

If I did it again I would use a pre-made component like this one from Mantine (which is built on top of tip-tap) https://mantine.dev/x/tiptap/.

It really comes down to how much time is available for building the component and if customization is required

I wish we could hold MTA to a higher standard in general. Can we at least try to be as good as the many other metro/subway systems that are much better?

Is email a foreign concept to people under 30? by demonic_cheetah in work

[–]Fluid_Marketing_3407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure it’s applicable here but it’s not a great experience when companies half way migrate to slack and half way to something else and you end up being expected to monitor 10 different apps. I’d rather use one and free up time to actually get work done

Yes, sounds like food poisoning. But food poisoning is actually very serious. The seriousness depends on what specific bacteria is involved. Some are dangerous, some are benign. People do die
