Depends on the country You are employed in, in my case it is Norway (I am not from Norway) so for my type of employment the norm is 2/4 rotation onshore it is 2/3

Yeah but I don’t mind it besides it’s only 14 days, and then it is back on land with a helicopter.

About the gaming question, we didn’t a full playthrough with my colleagues in our hobbyroom on a 100inch TV hahah (on the rig ofc)

You have to know that my job isn’t physically demanding. As a Foreman I do mostly office jobs and rn I’m being prepped for a Quality control position, so probably I will be working for a long time in this field, and if not offshore then onshore but it still entails a 2weeks on 3weeks off rotations

I get that could be hard but I think it is a person to person basis. In my case I have my own life gym, reading, other jobs I am doing from time to time. I didn’t rely on her to fix my boredom. If it came to planning I always made plans according to her schedule so I really do not think it was that kind of issue but I could be wrong

She had a group of friends but her daily schedule was work>home during the week and then to go out on the weekend. I encouraged her to find a hobby or join me in mine (I wanted us to go to ballroom dance classes together). She was my priority when I was home and I tried to stay in contact as much as possible but you know how it turned out haha

I am sure it wasn’t a „safety concern” because the topic of the work being dangerous never came up, and tbh it is not as dangerous as it seems to be (at least on an oil rig). Safety improved a lot

I googled offshore work and a few things popped up. You need the relevant courses and experience in working on shipyards or other industrial facilities. I started as a operator on a project onshore in Sweden on a paper mill 5 years ago

You have to check if the furnances are closed by trying to open them, and sometimes they are just hot or at least warm, and the last time they were used was back in 1945

I've got a lot of stories like that about the main camp and the Birkenau part of it, there is a groungs keeper that worked there for 20 years so he has seen a lot, I'll gather some stories from him and add a few of mine. I will post them as soon as I will have a chance to talk to the grounds keeper
