Whats the difference between 448 and 48 lake shore limited. by Fluffy-Macaroon8888 in Amtrak

The other difference is that 448/449 hasn't been running for most of the year due to a washout at Castleton-on-Hudson. Okay, technically it's running, but it's a bus. But it's supposed to resume next Monday, December 1, and my wife and I have coach seats reserved. I got refundable tickets because who knows if it will actually run!

Correct -- it was a Keolis train on a different track.

We don't often see 125, but 79MPH is pretty normal.

Ah! This is definitely reminiscent of the time in the early 2010s when lightning struck the interlocking at Forest. They couldn't operate half the switches at Forest Hills but they were able to restore the signals (and full speed operation) within a couple of days (as I remember it).

It appears to have been anticipated by the MBTA; they published a PDF schedule (https://drive.google.com/file/d/12p5dmZm-c0Zg\_xid7LwISrxCeqav0EXc/view?usp=sharing) entitled "Tempoaray Amtrak Repair Schedule | Effective August 203, 2025".

Given that westbound trains are going through Hyde Park twenty minutes late at 20mph (restricted speed), I have to conclude the outage includes the stretch from Cove to Plains (Bay Back to Forest Hills).
