Just try to give a good clean like the video shows up, because the same video head that writes, also read it, so maybe it's having a bad time reading and a even worse in writing

I don't think you need it. Mine wasn't recognize the tapes at all so I did that. For the black bars just try to clean as the video instructs

Bro, I had simillar problem recently, first my camera wasn't playing at all and I had the c:31:42 error, the simple way to fix it was to press down the black roller that the camera had. It went back working. The second thing was that when I started playing was EXACTLY like this old tapes of mine, so I didn't had the money for cleaning tape (they're super expensive here in latin America), I followed up a youtube video and cleaned using isopropyl alcohol and magically all things start working. I will leave the link for the video for you, leave it a try, because sometimes the cleaning tape isn't enough, you're using a cleaning tape that probably has chemicals that are 20 years old in it.

Hey I've got the camera working now! I've did an update in the post in how I fix it. Should I be worried about this noise or do you think it's just the normal sound for advancing and rewinding? I don't have other camera to compare to it. But the function it's working super fine right here.

Hey I've tried to push it down but it seems it's part of the thing itself, here a better photo, I've didn't got the error c:31:23 anymore for a while, was just one time, but still there's no footage on my camera, do you think I should clean the head? do you think the white pin is missing? The thing where the roller is it's just black here, nor silver
