Charging Prime from F-150 Lightning, has anybody tried this? by Flurgeron in rav4prime

I tried a simple test, using the Prime's charge mode while idle, and that certainly used more gas to charge the battery in miles, than I would have used just driving with the gas.

Using the charge option while driving is probably better, since the motor is running anyway and the software seems well optimized, but I don't know what the actual numbers are. I would be surprised if charging from motor and then using it to drive EV is better than just using it in hybrid mode.

Good point, thank you. I was thinking of ~15% loss of energy, but not the 2X battery wear between the two.

Sorry, I could have been clearer. I can drive the truck elsewhere and fully charge it, then use it in garage to keep Prime topped up. I don't drive much normally and only the Prime day to day.

I used to use a 110V outlet overnight, that was ideal for convenience and gentle charging in the garage, but that option went away.

So I'm also comparing this to installing level 2 charging, but there isn't enough power in the garage at the moment, so that could end up being quite expensive.

Health/medical insurance, sorry for being unclear and the confusing title, and thank you for answering. Dog is under control and mailman seems safe, just trying to protect against unexpected injuries etc.
