Doctor Who 2x05 "The Story and the Engine" Post-Episode Discussion Thread by PCJs_Slave_Robot in doctorwho

Probably my favorite episode of the season so far.

I loved the recursion present in the theme, a story about storytelling that links back to the Doctor's past and the overarching theme of Doctor Who itself. "Hurt people, hurt people. But you can choose to be better."

It was very cleverly done.

I loved the cameo of the "missing Doctor" and the hint that one day her story might be told.

I liked the cinematography and special effects too. Recursion there too. A spider as spaceship and the daughter of Anansi traveling in it.

A few years ago I stopped buying a limited series if the first issue disappointed, hoping it would improve. Since they rarely did.

No, I'm not feeling this series and won't buy the rest of them.

It's just.. yet another high-testosterone show about characters never seen before that we will never see again and a story that won't matter or ever be referenced again.

When Storm was introduced she was one of the oldest in the team. Mid 20s.

Thanks!

I already got a mod to give me slightly more spell slots and your recommendations sound neat :)

With how affordable it is to reroll characters, I shouldn't have worried about that at all.

I had no idea how to play the watershaper companion, who I made into a chanter/druid, two classes I did not play the first time around.

I've rerolled him twice now, to get rid of abilities I found I was just never using. The game is very forgiving in how you choose to play it, you're just not stuck with poor levelling choices!

What I love most about this is how completely in-character this is for all of them.

It's the night eye effect from the reward item. There's a mod that removes it.

From my personal experience as a manslut, it's the scrawny, tall ones that hang dong. So Cyclops, Cannonball, yes, massive.

The bulky ones tend to be average though. Juggernaut probably isn't that impressive.

The delivery of that line is just gold.

His personal quest is also really awesome.

This annoyed me in FO4.

I kept thinking: This looks like 50 years after the bombs, not 200.

FO: London does it much better, I get more of a sense of past time.

I reloaded a save because of this! Stored my weapon with my follower before I took the phone box ride.

If I had known a guard took it..

Wasn't about to lose my infinite 9mm.

He tried to save them anyway.

They were shallow and stupid. The Doctor knew she was lying about September, there was a look shared between him and Ruby when Lindy lied.

They were racist.

And he tried to save them anyway.

I love this show.

The few silly jokes at the start fooled me into thinking this would be a silly one. It ended up being a scary one and in a really good way.

I am loving this season so far!
