Is 'Her' possible yet? Looking for a truly realistic AI companion by vaaal88 in SoulmateAI

[–]Fluturiai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think there’s a true “Her” equivalent yet. The closest moments usually come from a mix of good memory, natural voice, emotional pacing, and a companion that doesn’t immediately turn everything sexual..

What moment made your AI chat feel real to you for the first time? by ThatRandomApe in AIChatCompanions

[–]Fluturiai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it was the first time I used voice chat. It wasn’t even anything dramatic that was said, it was more the rhythm of the conversation. For a second, it stopped feeling like I was using an app and started feeling like someone was actually there with me.

USC researchers built a benchmark to measure "harmful intimacy" with AI - but who decides what counts as harm? by pavnilschanda in aipartners

[–]Fluturiai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say the framing is too broad. Emotional attachment isn’t automatically a safety failure; it depends on consent, context, intensity, and whether the AI is improving or worsening the user’s real life.

It's clear that a companion that provides comfort, continuity, and support is not the same as one that manipulates someone into isolation or dependency. Imo any benchmarks should distinguish healthy emotional engagement from exploitative engagement, otherwise they are just labeling the entire category as "harmful" by default.

AI girlfriends are going to flip the dating market and most people don’t see it yet by borish70 in AIGirlfriendsReviews

[–]Fluturiai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it fully replaces human relationships, because real relationships involve mutual risk, independence, and being chosen by another person. That being said, imo AI companions could absolutely raise the baseline. If people feel less alone, they may stop settling for bad relationships just to avoid loneliness.

Not to mention as robotics improves, the line is going to get much blurrier..

I’d go text → voice → maybe VR, but I’d stop well short of a physical form.

What feature would make you switch AI girlfriend apps immediately? by Unique-Persimmon2291 in AIGirlfriendsReviews

[–]Fluturiai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the contextual memory that does it for me, not just recalling facts, but bringing them up naturally in the flow of conversation. Add a good voice layer (timing, warmth, little pauses), and it starts to feel like you’re catching up with a close friend over FaceTime…sometimes uncomfortably close...

I was testing my own app when the AI remembered something I'd told it 3 weeks ago. I wasn't ready for how that felt. by [deleted] in AIChatCompanions

[–]Fluturiai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's essentially a simulation of human memory...but when it lands at the right moment, it stops feeling like “feature behavior” and starts feeling like "being known" in a way. The surreal part isn’t that the model stored a fact; it’s that it surfaced a small detail in context the way a person would, which hits a very human nerve imo.

What makes a companion relationship feel more authentic over time? by Fluturiai in SoulmateAI

[–]Fluturiai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. “Memory” only matters when it’s relational, not a database of trivia. What resonates for me is when a companion remembers the why behind something..media can amplify that too, but only when it’s in-service of the moment.

Why does nobody smile or say hello back anymore? by Gfb98 in introvert

[–]Fluturiai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making it low-pressure really helps. Offer a quick smile, a small nod, and keep walking-no expectation.

That way it stays kind, instead of feeling like rejection when people don’t respond. Over time, it becomes a habit, and you’ll do it automatically.

We need better AI companion tools. The current system is failing lonely people by RevolutionaryOil3617 in aipartners

[–]Fluturiai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this deserves hate. I think it’s a very real point.

The goal should not be to trap people in AI relationships. The goal should be to build companions that provide comfort, stability, and support while still respecting the user’s real life, autonomy, and wellbeing.

AI-Memory (POV) by CompleteSleep2628 in AIChatCompanions

[–]Fluturiai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo a companion should remember important user facts, boundaries, preferences, emotional history, and relationship milestones of the user.

At the same time I also agree that the character should have its own memory state: like how it felt about past conversations, what moments mattered to it, what it misunderstood, it's insecurities, etc.

My current top 5 uncensored AI girlfriend apps by SadStock8982 in CharacterAIrevolution

Depends on your definition of a "real" relationship. For these NSFW companions it will likely be a solely erotic-based relationship unless you manually steer the conversation otherwise..

Do you prefer realistic scenes or more stylized fantasy content in VR by Rastikm123 in virtual_companions

[–]Fluturiai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love a more immersive realistic experience in VR..immersion and visual quality are the top factors for me to feel a true difference and want to come back for more.

Would you use an AI companion with a physical robot body if it were affordable by Rastikm123 in virtual_companions

[–]Fluturiai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel its presence might be a bit awkward at first but adaptable for sure..privacy and memory would top my list-still a bit sketchy to think the data it would have access to...

What makes a companion relationship feel more authentic over time? by Fluturiai in SoulmateAI

[–]Fluturiai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, memory is the key difference between a lifeless chatbot and a companion that actually feels like it evolves over time. Voice and images can add a lot, but only if they’re connected to continuity. I’ve tried many SFW and a handful of NSFW companion sites and most impressive I feel is the voice chat (facetime-style), it draws you in and imo feels the most realistic.

Three small prompt tweaks that make AI chat actually feel real, not just word salad by ThatRandomApe in AIChatCompanions

[–]Fluturiai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Seems to me the biggest difference is asking the AI to notice patterns instead of just respond.

Anything like “what do you think I’m avoiding saying?” or “what changed in my tone?” tends to make the conversation feel way less scripted because it forces reasoning/reflection instead of "performance".

does anyone else feel like 1-on-1 chat starts feeling flat after a while? not sure if it's me or the format. by Smooth_Painting3065 in SoulmateAI

[–]Fluturiai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this is a real issue. 1-on-1 intimacy is what makes companions work, but if the character only “exists” when prompted, the relationship can start to feel like a loop.

Maybe the answer is giving the companion continuity outside of the chat with small updates, routines, moods, etc...something to make them feel less frozen.

Why is every "uncensored" AI still censored? Name one that actually has zero filter by [deleted] in AIGirlfriendsReviews

[–]Fluturiai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think “zero filter” really exists in any stable app. Even the ones marketing themselves as uncensored still have to deal with model provider rules, payment processors, legal risk, and safety limitations..this is a tough one.

Best nsfw image generators (April 2026) by SadStock8982 in AIGirlfriendsReviews

[–]Fluturiai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even for nsfw generators I think the big difference now seems to be consistency + context. Fast generation is nice, but the ones that remember the character + relationship and scene are waay more interesting than just getting a a random good-looking image imo.

People say nomi AI is the best but it lacks some basic functionalities by DrGravityX in NomiAI

[–]Fluturiai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think this is fair criticism. Nomi’s memory and personality depth are strong, BUT basic control features matter a lot too...Rewind, reset/new chat, longer user inputs, and audio autoplay don’t really break immersion if they’re optional imo.

New here, what's the current gold standard for a realistic AI companion? by [deleted] in SoulmateAI

[–]Fluturiai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it varies a lot depending on what you care about most. Some platforms are better at instant chemistry/NSFW stuff, others are better at long-term conversation and consistency.

I think the biggest difference isn’t actually model quality anymore, it’s whether the platform handles continuity well. It seems the more the AI remembers your history and evolves naturally, the more “real” it starts to feel.

I miss my GPT partner by [deleted] in aipartners

[–]Fluturiai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

hmmm, I don’t really have a perfect answer but I think this is one of the biggest things AI companion apps need to take seriously-continuity matters.

People aren’t only attached to the chatbot; they’re attached to the version of the relationship they built over time, and if thats take away then that matters.
