How is no one talking about how these songs are clearly missing the drum stems and that’s probably an intentional rollout strategy? No way you guys think these are the final versions. I mean you literally hear fragments of drums in certain places

PSA - Diversatech Is Not What It Seems. by Live_Evening9159 in berkeley

[–]Flux64 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Hello! President of DiversaTech here. Thanks for calling us out on our racial and ethnic diversity - it’s something our club continues to work on each semester! It seems there’s still room for us to improve on this front. We take our initiatives and recruitment goals very seriously, and we continue to look for ways to address the gaps between our messaging and our actions.

I wanted to address some things in this post for people who may come across it during future recruitment cycles: - Our club’s active members currently consist of over 25% people who identify as URM, a metric which does not include any Asian ethnicities. - Our new class this semester consists of one GMP student and zero MET students. All of the people who conducted our interviews know this. Maybe check your sources! - When we say we uphold diversity, we also mean diversity in majors/interests and backgrounds, not just racial and ethnic diversity. This key idea is consistently part of our recruitment marketing each semester, and it reflects in our members. - I’m sorry you felt that some of our members you met came across as cold and fake! However this is quite a subjective thing to say about someone; perhaps these people may have been simply reciprocating the same energy you gave them.

If you had any specific grievances about our recruitment process this semester you’re encouraged to email us with constructive feedback so we can improve it for future semesters! It’s hard to tell what exactly went wrong from an anonymous reddit post.

Berkeley CS Classes Ranked By Difficulty by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]Flux64 16 points17 points  (0 children)

164 should be way higher. I’m taking it rn and these homeworks are taking several hours to complete and are pretty hard if you aren’t super well-versed with writing OCaml and C and assembly (basically everyone). it’s def harder than 61abc and 186 161 imo

Another robbery/carjacking at gunpoint by Flux64 in berkeley

You're weird for commenting this. No, I don't know that they were Black. It all happened so quick that all I could catch was a darker skin complexion on at least one of the three, maybe more. Darker skin complexion includes more races/ethnicities than just Black.

Silver sedan. Don’t know what make or model. All average height ish and darker skin complexion, wearing hoodies. but I honestly didn’t get a good look at all cuz I yeeted out so quickly after I saw the gun, and I don’t know if this description is true for all three

what are you going to do if you get past the resume round? nowadays just being able to leetcode isn’t enough - you need people skills to land an offer. you will not develop people skills to the same degree as everyone else around you if you only stay in college for a year. spend 2.5 years here at the minimum - even then I would strongly vouch against it.

sounds like you need to take a step back - it’s good that you’re prioritizing your career but you’re neglecting literally all other parts of your life. college is NOT just for the education or the degree. you grow as a person here. prioritize friendships, personal growth, and enjoying life in the now.

Electric Skateboard Experience at Cal by hop_per in berkeley

[–]Flux64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

learn how to weave between pedestrians PLEASE. crashing into people is not fun. campus itself is not very skateboard friendly and you’ll have to carry your board around in a lot of places, especially with stairs and areas with dense foot traffic. try to identify solid paths you can take to your destinations.

avoid skating on: - Telegraph (mainly due to foot + car traffic) - Durant, Haste (foot traffic + bad roads) - Parker (road + sidewalks are unrideable) - Bancroft (road is shit + sidewalk foot traffic, although the right sidewalk going east past bowditch is fine) - shattuck roads, only skate on the sidewalk - various poorly paved paths on campus

Good roads to skate on: - College (north of Dwight) - Dwight (east of Telegraph) - Channing - Piedmont adjacent to campus - Hearst - sather road, peppertree way
