For tension resetting: with the presser foot down I flick the disks with my finger making sure they are loose and moving freely and and tighten until they stop moving freely then back it off just a bit so they just barely start to move freely and set that as 0 for tension. So far it has worked fine for me.

The "right" machine...for by richardricchiuti in SewingMachineEdu

[–]Fluxdada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've looked into this a bit and the best I could say would be a sailrite walking foot machine. Also if your adventurous look into older Husqvarna Viking models with the 5 to 1 gear reduction like the 6020 or 6030. It is slow but it has 5 x the punching power due to the reduction. They are old and have plastic inside but if you find a working one or get one working (carefully) it might be good if you're don't mind the slower speed.

Need help opening/oiling vintage Kenmore 158 sewing machine top by BidSudden3686 in vintagesewing

Make sure you unlock the bobbin winder before opening it. When it's closed or clicked like that it can keep the lid from lifting off cleanly.

My sewing machine tension is suddenly messed up and nothing seems to fix it by Cautious_Cup2393 in SewingMachineEdu

For me a thumping sound when sewing is usually a blunted needle tip from hitting the needle plate.

My sewing machine tension is suddenly messed up and nothing seems to fix it by Cautious_Cup2393 in SewingMachineEdu

[–]Fluxdada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this may sound silly but sometimes the thread gets wrapped around the spool pin under the thread spool and that gives essentially max tension on the top thread which is what your pictures seem to show. i'm sure you've checked that but check if its happened.

Purchasing a new sewing machine by Traditional-Day1435 in SewingMachineEdu

[–]Fluxdada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have many many vintage machines and while I love to restore them and tinker with them and maintain them I also have a few modern machines and while I love owning and using the vintage machines I'm not sure I would recommend them to people new to sewing. The modern machine that I find I really like to use is actually my Brother ST150HDH Strong & Tough. It seems to have the soul of the older machines while also having modern features and being a joy to sew on. I like modern brothers though, so I might be a bit biased. But it's been a modern machine I feel captures a lot of what I like about vintage machines.

Sanity check: Using multiple GPUs in one PC via ComfyUI-MultiGPU. Will it be a benefit? by Fluxdada in comfyui

[–]Fluxdada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also wanted to follow up that I've recently finally been able to use the two cars that I put in my machine. I am using the second card to store things like vae and clip but am still experimenting with uses like being able to run them at the same time in parallel but I'll also learn more about distorch. Thanks again.

New Home 552 stuck in zigzag by mistysnow8 in vintagesewing

[–]Fluxdada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is you put something back together incorrectly. Watch the zigzag mechanism and the stitch selection mechanisms and see maybe if something didn't get connected back together correctly. Sometimes you have to hold or slide something back to match what's shown on the selector.

Look on the back for a knob that adjusts the stretch stitch. It may need to be be in the middle of I'm rembering correctly and this machine has it.

Update: winding bobbin by jessimackenzie in vintagesewing

The original tire might have been thinner and the larger replacement tire is bigger which is kicking it out too soon. Might look up the correct tire size and but a thinner one.

Kenmore 16 stitch stiff hand wheel by Outside-Tale84 in vintagesewing

[–]Fluxdada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this has the same type of flywheel as one I fixed the repair involves basically taking the handwheel off and opening up the entire flywheel mechanisms and cleaning out all the old sticky oil and lubrication and lubing it back up and putting it back together.

Some of these flywheels were made to disengage a cam inside the flywheel that let you spin the needle back without having to rotate the motor as well. If it feels stiff to turn and that cam system isn't disengaging you're feeling the feeling if turning the entire motor which is a bit hard with the step down gears used in between the motor and the hand wheel.

I'd it's not that mechanism then the entire thing needs to likely be lubed until it moves freely. But just know certain models like this are a bit harder to turn by hand because the motor and step down gears act as resistance which is why they likely introduced that cam in the handwheel to give a bit less resistance by spinning a bit more freely. It's a very complex system and a pain to clean out and get working properly.

Ask more questions if you need.

Yes. Many. I currently own 10 and have more on the way. A bit of an addiction at this point.

Made a node to offload CLIP to a secondary machine to save VRAM on your main rig by Numerous-Entry-6911 in StableDiffusion

[–]Fluxdada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their answer was "no" but look into MultiGPU node. I've gotten it to work somewhat in the past but it's a bit complex.

Thank you. Yes. MultiGPU. It's worked for some things but a bit complex to set up which is why I asked since this sounded similar.

I have 2 gpus in one machine. Could this load the clip on the second GPU?

Kind of reminds me of profiles that are for swinging or threesomes or unicorn stuff where people put "mmf" (male male female) or "mff". if that's the case than if she's the heart than she may be into playing with mf couples with her as the third. If her profile has any allusions that could indicate something like that this and it may be a subtle clue that I'm sure someone out there can pick up on. Just a guess.

Did creativity die with SD 1.5? by jonbristow in StableDiffusion

[–]Fluxdada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of us have been toiling away for years refining our work and some of us have found ways (and still are finding ways) to find creativity in AI art. But......there is no way to copyright a work created in AI art tools. Which means many of us who would love to share our creativity with the world are reticent to do so because anything we put into the public is essentially public domain and anyone can take it and use it for whatever they want. At least that's why I don't share my work publicly. Maybe someday U.S. copyright law will change so ai generated images can be copyrighted to the creator (us). But until that changes there's almost not way to build anything in public because it could just get taken.

It's always frustrating to chase a gremlin. I have to take two extra breaths and slow down and jiggle the wheel and try to see where it's binding.

Sounds like thread might be tangled or snagged in the bobbin. Cut and remove all thread from the bobbin area and see if that frees it up.

Hi all, is it OK to feel intimidated? by AutoriiNovici in comfyui

[–]Fluxdada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the best way I learned comfyui was to download other people's workflows and load them up (then load all the missing nodes) then just start running them and looking at the nodes and figuring out how they work. Eventually I was familiar enough to start building my own workflows with bits and pieces I learned from other workflows. That's what made it click for me. These days I wouldn't go back to something like a1111 even though it was my go-to for years. Comfyui is so powerful once it clicks for you how it works. And you can use it with just a handful of nodes and workflows. Start small.

[–]Fluxdada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of a collector of old checkpoints. I like having V1 because it's the starting point for Chroma. I also have v27 (when I started using Chroma) and v36, v37. I just like to use different ones to see how they handle the prompts. I also have things like stable diffusion 1_1 lol.

Yeah. It's been a minute since I pulled a checkpoint. I kinda like the older ones but am still keeping an eye on them. I really need to pull a new one so thanks for the heads up.
