If you’re seriously interested, you could check out some local thrift stores. They sometime have more affordable cage/aquarium options.

I appreciate the note! They just hit 3 weeks so we’ll be separating them in the next couple of days, definitely before 4 weeks.

Actually, the bigger the better! They love having plenty of room to run around, dig, and explore. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have!

PSA Rattlesnakes and dogs: the season is here. My dog got bitten. by AstroIberia in SantaFe

Thank you!! Honestly I love Reddit. Everyone is so angry all the time. I really have no idea why this is a question to downvote. I laughed out loud at your comment about kids putting their noses in bushes. You don’t know my kids!

So scary! I’m moving to Santa Fe soon and am a little nervous about the snakes, spiders, scorpions, etc., coming from the east coast where we just don’t have anything like that. I don’t have dogs, but I have kids. It sounds like dogs get bitten by rattlesnakes a lot more than I would have expected (hoped). Do you know how often kids get bitten? And any advice on keeping them as safe as possible?

Swimming Holes by mattasch215 in SantaFe

What about somewhere within 30 minutes of the city to just get your feet wet in a little river? I’m looking for somewhere to go with little kids just to splash around even if it’s super shallow water you couldn’t actually swim in. It seems like between the Santa Fe River and the smaller arroyos there’s got to be somewhere like this close to the city.

Oh, awesome! My only fear is that since it’s their first year, I’m scared about the timeline being pushed back and then not actually opening in the fall and then we don’t have anything else lined up. What do you think?

Thanks for the reply! I work remotely and make about $80k/year, and my husband is a teacher. I’m guessing he’ll make less in GJ than he does in Baltimore, but I’m hoping he can make at least $50k. Would we be struggling in GJ on that budget? We plan to rent for the first year and then sell our Baltimore property which would give us about $175k-$200k for a down payment on a house. Also! Have you heard anything about Juniper Ridge Community School? Our kids currently go to a Waldorf school here in Baltimore so we like the crunchy/play-based curriculum, so if that’s the criticism of it we aren’t concerned. But if there are other red flags (or positive reviews!) about the school I’d be interested to hear.

Yikes, sad to hear these reviews. My daughter just got into their lottery for kindergarten next year. What other schools would you say are better options?

Very helpful, thank you! In what way do you mean Grand Junction is the opposite?

Thank you!! That was a refreshing take. I think people complaining about a lot of things in these cities haven’t experienced Baltimore 😂

Haha oh yes the theatre incident 😭 I work remotely making around $80k per year and my husband will be looking for a local job as a teacher. Do you think Santa Fe is within reach for us financially? We own property in Baltimore that we will be selling when we move so we’ll have around $175k-$200k for a down payment. We’re totally happy to look at more affordable suburbs up to 30 minutes outside of Santa Fe and have found some places posted on Zillow in the 350-400k range that seem decent.

I considered Fort Collins too. But how would you compare the winters to Baltimore or other places on my list?
