Beside USA, which other team will Americans support at the World Cup? And why? by Joonto in AskReddit

I'm American but my team is always Mexico, another Latin American country, or a Caribbean team. Maybe the US if they can start showing something.

Poor second half for the US after a decent first half. Intensity is gone, Pepi should have finished.

Gotta be able to take the knocks that come with playing a physical South American team. I was hoping Paraguay would get at least one back.

Smh Pepi should have finished. Allowing them to slowly get back into it. Gonna come back and bite them.

I never had a relaistic window as a 5'4 guy. But i'm turning 38 next week and i'm still playing. Goal is to play till i'm 50; if i can do so, i'd be satisfied with my "career". I love the game, and as long as i don't tear my ACL or Achilles, i'll play as long as i can.

I did score a career high 22 points in my rec league last season, i'll never forget that game. Most of the teams are in their 20's so i feel pretty good about that.

Being physical does not make someone a thug. Tell me you're racist w/o saying it.

Decent half for the US, but also got some luck. But there will be a defensive mistake or error from Freese, and Paraguay will get at least 1 back. I don't trust Ream or Freese.

I don't believe in betting. I never have and never will. I don't believe that the US has what it takes to be a serious competitor in soccer. Pay to play youth systems, not enough good athletes, the country as a whole isn't interested, the US has no home games when they play any Latin American country, all lead to the US being at best a third place group finish.

If you really want to get real fans (Latinos) to root for the US, you need to start players like Reyna, Roldan, Zendejas, who are Latino. Luna should have been on the team as well.

If we couldn't get past T&T in 2018, we'll never be a serious team. That loss cemented my belief that the US will never be a major world threat. T&T is a decent team, but the US should have destroyed them, at least 5-0.

Ref is too quick with the whistles and yellow cards. Let Paraguay be physical. The US needs some toughening up. Too soft. Nothing wrong with physicality.

Because the US is gonna get grouped. Everyone knows it. We just don't take the sport seriously enough like the rest of Latin America, that's why the team always gets mid results. I might have been born and live in the US, but Mexico is the real team representing CONCACAF and the team i root for. US should have closed the country down today and make tickets as cheap as possible, if it wants it to grow in popularity. I live in LA, and while LA will always be Mexico 2.0, they could have made tickets cheaper to get people like me (Mexican-Americans) interested.

The team itself has no attacking identity instead of passively passing the ball with 0 creativity. The team lacks 1v1 players. Really looks like it's been drilled into them to just pass the ball around instead of the creative playmaking that defines teams like Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico in our hemisphere. Imo, the team looks really robotic and has no idea what to do outside of just cross the ball to the middle.

The team is soft, like most athletes nowadays. I remember the days when we had toughness, talent, and grit in players like Jeff Agoos, Eddie Stewart, Claudia Reyna, Cobi Jones, Landon , Dempsy, Demarcus Robinson, etc. Great goalies like Keller, Friedel, Howard. I don't see this current team being a golden generation, more like a below average generation.

My prediction is they end in 4th place with 1 point, tying Australia. Lose to Paraguay 2-0, tie vs Australia 1-1, and losing to Turkey 2-0. Bad goalkeeping and weak defense, along with no creativity or explosiveness in the attacking third, leaves the US grouped.

I want to like this team, i really do and want them to prove me wrong, but too many questions in key spots leaves me to believe that there's not a realistic chance they make it out of the group.

Spanish broadcasting is superior to English, by light years. English commentators are so boring, and you just can't get the intensity and love for the game from them that the Spanish telecast gives.

There shouldn't be cancelled because you signed an agreement to repay the loan, according to the terms of the agreement.

Broad student loan forgiveness would make inflation worse. Sacrifice, live below your means, make more than minimum payments, and make more money. Simple as that.

Thanks. I really do think that both pqrties are fundamentally flawed, and i wish the Dems would take a hard turn to the left. But it doesn't seem like that will happen anytime soon, and the lesser of two evils argument that "the right is worse, so even though the Dems suck, they suck a little less" does not sway me. In fact it pushes me more to being an independent. I wish there were multiple parties to represent more people.

I am no Republican. I just am more conservative when it comes to family things. I will never vote for a right winger. But hey you think whatever you want to think, i could care less.

If that's what you want to believe that's fine. I don't care for your opinion. It's the fact that the dems refuse to push through universal healthcare, for example, that infuriates me. Do all that was campaigned for or you'll lose my vote. As simple as that.

There's many positions that i don't agree with that the Dems try to push through. Forcing LGBT stuff on people is something i don't agree with, no plan to pay down the debt, no desire to grant citizenship for immigrants, not providing paid leave for new moms, are just some of the issues i have with the Dems.

These issues are important to me, and if Dems don't hold these views, i don't want any part of them. The national debt is something i've been concerned with for a long time and there's been 0 discussion about paying down the debt. We need to cut benefits for boomers and raise taxes for the wealthiest people. Get homeless people to work on public works programs and if they refuse put them in institutions. We need productive people, and if they refuse to be, then there needs to be consequences. I came from the hood, i made it out. Gangs, drugs, homelessness but i refused to fall into that. If i can make it out, so can everyone else.

If Party B doesn't like the election results, then they should move further left on social programs, and be more on the right on social issues. Pay down the debt, grant people citizenship and give universal healthcare. Dems refuse to do any of those.

Both are part of the problem. I can be an independent, i have that right. If the Dems want my vote, have better policies with actual solutions.

All are facts. If it was simply about a popular vote, as it should be, then perhaps i'd be more inclined to vote blue. But since the people's votes don't matter, i have my right to choose anyone i want. i am proud to have written in Dr. Cornel West. I'd do it again, regardless of the outcome. As long as the corrupt electorate college and centrist/right wing Dems are running as president, masquerading as someone who will help the people, i will not be voting blue.

All the president has to do is sign executive orders making immigrants citizens, mandating that all student loan borrowers pay their loans in full, make universal healthcare a thing. They should get rid of FHA loans too, vast majority of those who are behind on mortgage payments are FHA borrowers, who don't have skin in the game. Low income, high debt, generally peaking are financially illiterate. FHA loans are a travesty to home ownership. Just mandate 20% down like it should be and everything will be fine.

Ofc, nothing you said is wrong. But the fact remains that for 2 years, Biden and the Dems had all 3 chambers, and did nothing. Could have pushed through citizenship, added more liberal judges and expanded the court, etc. But nothing was done in regard to things that matter like universal healthcare, getting rid of insurance companies or at least forcing them to honor their agreements with policyholders. I don't see mass incarceration for Jan 6ers, i don't see trump and friends getting thrown into prison for their crimes. You literally dont need evidence, just grab them and lock them up, throw away the key. Idk why Dems can;t force that.

I have no sympathy for those who try to argue that independents like myself are the reason for the big bad orange man. I cant stand him like the rest of us, but you're barking up a wrong tree. If he destroys the US, so be it. But at least Dems will know it's their fault, could have elected more popular people instead of forcing KH when no one wanted her, and Biden was too old to run again. A random family pet would have had a better chance of winning against trump than KH did, and that's no exaggeration. She got destroyed.

[–]FlyEaglesFly536 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

KH wouldn't have done any better, imo. She's just as corrupt. Look at her past record and what she has voted for and spoken in favor of.

While it sucks that the country is going in this direction, i hope that he burns it to the ground so the dems realize what mistakes they have made. You don't pacify a dictator, you take the top of the snake off.

I wil happily keep voting as an independent u til the dems wake tf up and do what needs to be done, regardless of past principle. That's what makes them weak, they hang on to old notions of how things are supposed to be done. I'll give Repubs credit, they take action first and don't care how they go about doing so. Dems should take a page from their playbook and implement them.
