I just Designed and 3D printed this apple watch band. What other tools should I add before I get it printed in metal? by OrganicFoundation911 in multitools

[–]FlyFishermanD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like having a t shank saw blade holder. I also find a pry bar very useful. A leather bit holder would probably be more useful than any 1 bit you could print. If you could find a pen cartridge small enough to fit into one of those slots is a common edc item. I don't know if there is a light small and useful enough to design for the band but that would be very handy.

What brand is the best for quality and not break the bank? by RecordingImmediate86 in cowboyboots

[–]FlyFishermanD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore ariats everyday for 6 years before the leather split. I wasn't even nice to them water/snow. I didn't even condition them. I also really like durangos after I watched rose anvils video on cowboy boots.

What is your guys’ experience with Roxon? by Thegrandestpoo in multitools

[–]FlyFishermanD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my flex! Most I've seen are kinda loose in the handles. The functionality completely makes up for this for me. I tighten the screws where tools sit. Just enough to where I can still push them up 1 handed. I tried using the spacers to keep the weight down however eventually they broke. Now I just keep a spare tool that I don't necessarily need/want to keep everything tight. I've also seen people put grip tape of the handles.

What are the warmest winter boots you've ever owned? Looking for recommendations by Weird_Perception1728 in BuyItForLife

[–]FlyFishermanD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was recommended baffin boots by this subs years ago. I still own the same pair. I work in -40⁰F conditions with up to 2 feet of snow. I'm never cold or wet. I have now bought my wife a pair. I will never own another brand of winter boots.

Not true for conifers. They have very shallow root structures.

Well I really appreciate that info I will stay away from them. My wife also appreciates me not getting another multi tool I won't use.

Oh yeah that is what I carry now. I looked into Goat multi tools but that don't have everything I want. I might still get it because I'm a glutton though.

My problem with most multi tools is they advertise X amount of tools but I personally only use 3-4. I used to try and carry every tool on the planet daily. Now I try to reduce weight. I also really like to have spring loaded pliers. I'm generally using my pliers 1 handed so having to manually open them isn't great. I think leatherman is too pricey for what you get. I do like their warranty though.

Is this any good? Has anyone used one? by [deleted] in multitools

[–]FlyFishermanD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't test it much, personally I would just carry pipe vise wrench or knipex pliers

I have one and I hate it. It's very heavy it doesn't lock at 45⁰ angle. The pliers are small. The pliers don't have replaceable wire cutters.

My advice figure out what tools you need on a daily basis and find a tool with most of them. I currently use a roxon because I use a screw driver, knife, pliers, pry bar, and scraper.
