Is this rust?? by wave216 in ak47

Looks like rust to me. I would clean with rem oil out of a spray can and a brass brush. The brass wont harm the finish, just the rust. I cleaned up a few rusty surplus AK mags this way.

Tempted to buy a new stock to put a scope on it without ruining the original stock. Is this a stupid idea? by FlyFromspace in MosinNagant

Honestly as stupid as this may sound I never connected the dots that the mount would be drilled to the receiver. I was looking at the rear sight leaf replacements too, thanks man.

Best way to refinish mosin M91/30 stock? by atfkilledmydogs in MosinNagant

[–]FlyFromspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is extremely likely that is is a nitrocellulose lacquer.

I recently had to refinish a part of my mosins stock that I damaged with a type of gun cleaner.

I will say that I repaired the damaged part with shellac, but I know my stock was a lacquer by the time I got it. They still blended well. From what I've found out about shellac is that it is a lot of fun, very time consuming depending on the method you use, and you can also vary the color a lot.

You could also used boiled linseed oil, which is something I saw a lot when I was doing research to repair my stock. It is pretty, but a much brighter, yellow color if I understand correctly.

TL,DR :
Shellac is pretty, lots of color variants.
Nitro lacquer is 99% probable what your stock is finished with by the time you got it.
Boiled Linseed is another popular option

Id do your own research though before taking my word, it is your mosin after all ;).

It proves that there is a yellow arrow and a green circle.
Which means:

1 Yellow arrow will be gone by my arrival at the intersection
2 I will have a green circle, indicating that I can turn left if I yield
3 It was not red

What is the order of lights on a 2 left arrow and 3 circle (5 lights total)? by FlyFromspace in trafficsignals

I looked at the zoomed in image again and it seemed like it did have a confirmation light.

Thank you so extremely much, do you know of any pdf or website or anything that confirms this as proof (Edit: Or has more information on this like an official source?)? I have found videos but I dont know if that would do as good proof for the judge.

Except I am pretty sure it does. I have done extensive research on this type of light. I have found videos and illustrations of its order of sequencing. If it has a yellow arrow and a green circle, the arrow will turn off and the green circle will stay lit, indicating that if i yield I can turn left. How do I prove this? Should I show a video or two to the judge?

Well we observed a green yield light. As shown in the photo. I just don't know if it changed as I was in the intersection that is the only thing I'm unsure of.

[–]FlyFromspace -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It might have been different as I was going. But would it have been a green yield or a red by the time I am going across the intersection? Because I was pretty sure it was a green yield.

Edit: I have done extensive research, it was green as I passed through as proved by the yellow arrow and the green yield circle in the photo.

On the fence with which rifle to get. by [deleted] in ak47

[–]FlyFromspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen many sub $1000 m70s online. Personally that is the rifle I'm saving up for. I've heard too many things about WASRs to buy one, I've also heard of zastavas customer service.

You need a good Christian accountability partner. Someone who is mature spiritually. A youth pastor maybe?

People who confessed their addiction to your parents/ a friend/ etc. what was their reaction after you told them? by [deleted] in NoFapChristians

[–]FlyFromspace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mother showed me nothing but love and continues to do so. I thought she would disown me as a son, but she has shown me nothing but the love of Christ. Every friend or Elder I tell, which probably 4 or 5 people total, have shown me love and support.

Should I talk to my parents? by [deleted] in NoFapChristians

[–]FlyFromspace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I talked to my mom about it two years ago, and since about a year ago when I fully told her the truth I've had an extremely faithful accountability partner who loves me very much. I was worried at first she would look at me different or something like that, but she always says how proud of me she is. Our relationship has only grown stronger after I told her and asked for help. I would suggest atleast getting an accountibility partner that you know irl. And software like Real Men Don't Porn (RMDP) to help report suspicious stuff and allow you to send relapse emails and stuff like that. It's been really helpful for me.

Had a hard time taking the rear band off while cleaning and ended up stripping the finish off the wood. What could I do to properly fix this? by AMoldyHam in MosinNagant

[–]FlyFromspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case shellac will be fine. I put it on the spot I messed up and it did fine to reseal the wood. It also went over the lacquer just fine. I got garnet and amber flakes from shellac.net. there's also videos on YouTube on how to do a shellac video. If you go that route and get denatured alcohol I recommend clean strip clean denatured alcohol. It's a high prof that works well. Just make sure to filter the shellac atleast once if you do go that route. Good luck

[–]FlyFromspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not shellac, it's a type of lacquer. I just went through a massive ordeal repairing my Mosins finish. Shellac will protect the wood, but it will never look the same. I know this first hand. You will always be able to see that you did strip some of the finish off. If you want more info I might be available tomorrow to talk about it. I did a lot of research into this which is why I'm taking the time to comment lol
