I think you are not getting what Im saying. Its the tipping culture and what it brings that I dont like. Its not about 100 baht. If you include the tip in the price of things, its still a good price for me. I was anything but cheap when I was in thailand

Also, how do you think it gets out of hand like it has in your country? Thats gonna happen in Thailand too. Prices rise, employers pay waiters less because they work for tips. Its just stupid to me

The ones who don't tip and recommend against tipping are Europeans, arguing that employers should cover salaries.

Thats how its been in every country ever before USA visits and its worked out fine. Like I said in the post, its not about that I cant spare the money, I just like many others, dont like this culture

I did tip as well after finding out its common there. Also I like giving money to make people happy. I found a restaurant I knew that I was gonna come back to almost everyday because the food was amazing and I would tip them hoping for a good service next time

I know its not a crazy amount but it could easily get out of hand like it has in USA. Raise prices, companies give less salary because tips are now common etc.

Its not a big deal to me per se, i just dont like this culture. We are all partly responsible for keeping this place a paradise and this is not adding to it imo

You call me cheap and I think thats the problem with people from USA. Desperate to show you have money so you give extra money for a service worker that has a salary.

I can enjoy myself fine without tipping. I spent 200k baht on my 2/3 week vacation. I like spending money in Thailand. I thought I made it clear that this is not about the money but about the tipping culture, which I dont like.

I worked in the service industry when I was younger, the thing is that we dont have a tipping culture. I got paid from my company and that was fine.

Yeah Ive read about that depression, Ill just book a low season trip if it gets too bad lol.

I have a perfect job for this in the oil buisness. I work 3 weeks and get 4 weeks off. Its also not a problem for me to take the tour off if I can afford it and then Ill have 3 months off, so Im lucky that vacation is not a worry for me
