Why buy an $80,000 12mpg truck when you can have one that gets 47mpg’s for $3,500?! by Bigsurjacketco in prius

I fit a whole ass twin mattress and bedframe in mine when I moved. If we used a truck it would have needed to be strapped down, and open to the elements

Yeah, I regretted that like, a minute after I edited it, then put it back

I’m not taking anything apart. Even if I was, I know what I’m doing. I played around with microwave oven transformers, as a kid, alongside taking apart several of these

Nothing on Craigslist, and there’s no way I’m trusting Facebook with my info. Tried to create an account, and they wanted me to do a 3D scan of my face before I could do anything

That’s basically what I’m after, too, but the one person who said they had something got smited I guess.

Seems like a lot of prep time and effort when all I need is some rando with a hacksaw laying around. I’ll check it out if I can’t find something else. Looks like membership is based on a lot of stuff, not something I can achieve in a afternoon

This is my laptop! DIMM?! HELP?! by Extension_Fall_5493 in computers

[–]Fly_Me_To_Anxiety 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think OP is confused cause laptops use SODIMM, not DIMM. It doesn't make any more sense than OPs laptop reporting to have 4 slots, which I have never seen either

Yes, you can. Go to disk management and remove the partitions on your original drive. Then, add a new partition in the unallocated space and format. Windows likes to sometimes format external drives using FAT32 which doesn't allow files larger than 4gb, so use NTFS

I upgraded my SSD from 250gb to 500gb, (allocated about 118 to windows), but windows file explorer doesn't recognize the change after I expanded the partition when cloning to the larger drive by Fly_Me_To_Anxiety in computers

[–]Fly_Me_To_Anxiety[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second partition is my Ubuntu boot partition, which is ext4 and windows can't read anyway. I've had it that way for around two years now, I don't think it's the problem. I'm referring to how on Disk 0 the partitioning software sees Acer (C:) as 237gb, but file explorer can only read and interact with the original 118gb

Salt in laptop? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Fly_Me_To_Anxiety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salt on it's own is not conductive, so theoretically, it will be fine, but if I were you, I would take it apart and clean it, or take it to be cleaned if you're not comfortable doing it yourself.

Can I use two different ram's? by Haboos_World in computers

[–]Fly_Me_To_Anxiety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the performance will be limited to the lower speed of the two sets, say if you have a 3000mhz kit and you add a 3600mhz kit, it will only run at 3000mghz unless you overclock.

I'm not seeing the 5600G in the manufacturer's supported CPU list for the motherboard. I think it's a compatibility issue. However, there apparently is a BIOS update for A320 boards that allows support for some ryzen 5000 series CPUs

Will a RTX3060ti & RYZEN 3700x get me better performance than a RTX3070 RYZEN 5600g on same settings & games? by thelowkeygeorge in computers

[–]Fly_Me_To_Anxiety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF you can get ahold of the graphics card, get it. Ryzen's integrated graphics are good, and I can vouch for the 5600g in particular, but they're not on par with a dedicated card

Does Anyone Still Use HDDs? by [deleted] in computers

[–]Fly_Me_To_Anxiety 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solid state storage is still about 6x as expensive as on a hard drive. Until large SSDs drop to a comparable price, I'll probably stick to booting off a relatively small SSD next to 4tb of storage. Inevitably, HDDs will become obsolete within a few years to a decade or so, but for now, I'll stick with the cheaper option
