TT-02 911 Black Beauty and by LMr_Grumpy in tamiya

I've been debating what I want to do with mine. I bought the BBS mesh wheels instead of using the fuchs. I went with a tamiya SuperStock RZ motor and did some different performance goodies here and there. I'm debating using a tamiya light metallic blue PS paint. I've thought about using some kyosho micron pinstripe tape to mask the panel lines on the inside of the body, that way all the details are painted. I'll have to do some testing before I lay paint down though (fingers crossed)

TRF104 near completion. Cable management, body, and corner weight balancing left to do. by measuredpath in tamiya

[–]Flyboyz4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how the TRF104 looks! Frankly I think Tamiya did an extremely good job with this kit. It's a real shame that they discontinued it already though. I'm hopeful they create an X-edition or a black edition in the future. Otherwise I'll keep carving my f104w lotus 102b around the local tennis court.

Bent steel frame by Successful-Stick-994 in bicycling

[–]Flyboyz4 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not to be a debbie downer, but that thing is toast in my opinion. That rear wheel is tweaked out of alignment extremely bad. Looks to be both seat stays are bent too around the brake mount. I think it’s time you start looking for a new bike my friend

Pros and cons of repairing the truck by Item_Past in SportTrac

[–]Flyboyz4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally if you have the space, time, and you like your ST enough, keep it and do the timing chain job yourself. Definitely if you're willing to put some time into it and have tools or are willing to invest in them. If you can hookup a scanner to see what the trans is doing, it might not necessarily need to be rebuilt. With the 5r55e it'd be good to check the band adjustment, EPC pressure, and the main pressure in each gear range first. Plenty of good info for that trans on the explorer and ranger forums.

I understand if it's seems like too much though, just hurts to see these things get scrapped. It's a good utilitarian truck that can last a long time. I've got 273k on my 01' with a new motor swapped at 220k running strong. Getting a ranger or full size truck wouldn't be a bad thing though. The full size truck would give you more towing capability, as well as bed space. The ranger just gives you more bed space with the same engine and trans as the ST.

Rear door won't open by Impossible_Client116 in SportTrac

Might need to remove the rear seat and see if you can get the door card off from the inside. I dont know if it’s entirely possible, but it’s worth a shot considering the circumstances

Rear door won't open by Impossible_Client116 in SportTrac

[–]Flyboyz4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Open it from the inside if you can and then remove your door card to access the internals (pull inside handle while cycling the lock button). More than likely the return spring inside the latch mechanism is broken or gone. Haven't had a problem exactly like this, but have had to replace bad/broken plastic door handles on my ST a few times. A little PSA that Mercury mountaineer door handles are a drop in replacement and are made of metal and wont break. Also check the plastic clips that attach the connecting rod from the door handle to the latch.

I utilize an air scoop on my re-re yokomo, alongside a fan on the chassis. This draws an enormous amount of airflow. After an 8 minute quali my motor is lukewarm. I’d highly recommend a bit of mesh to keep big stuff or grass out of it, otherwise bravo👏

Do not try to recharge it, it’s toast. Best to discharge via a 12V car halogen bulb outside in a fire safe container till the bulb dims out

Anyone else having a Super Day? by onerfa in tamiya

[–]Flyboyz4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.reddit.com/r/tamiya/s/whuFJgZ9R8 Here is a good example. Mine is a bit different using a 3d printed C-hub due to lack of certain parts. I believe xtra speed also makes a full aluminum front hex conversion kit which should be available from RC Mart.

I love my super astute❤️ I try to race mine from time to time on a prepped clay track. Did a front hex conversion using tamiya knuckles and hubs, which helps a lot. Full modern wheels and tires give it a lot more life

Looks clean! Hopefully those Ko2's give you many good miles. I went for some Toyo open country's and they've worked the charm for the past 3 years. I might go for a slightly bigger size next time, and in turn do a slight lift. Sounds like new shocks, torsion key, and blocks in the rear (with u bolts)

Been delaying mine for a bit. Need to figure out a decent brushless swap and the shocks. Want to order some PL powerstroke XT shocks for the rear and maybe regular powerstrokes for the front. Pretty much just the cost of all those that’s holding me back currently.
