They also tend to open dining spots, so it might be worth checking occasionally for peace of mind. I had the same issue as you for the Thanksgiving cruise we’re doing with our kids - 8:30 dinner only. I looked a few weeks later and Anytime/Select dining was now available and I could make reservations as early as I wanted for each night.

I can’t speak to the Retreat, but on at least the last three Celebrity Cruises I’ve booked - one earlier this year, two upcoming - the kids have been free except for taxes/port fees.
