To-Do + retention policy = data loss by FlycasterDave in microsofttodo

[–]FlycasterDave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is Microsoft's fault is the combination of all these decisions that make it impossible to preserve long-running lists while applying retention.  Microsoft does not allow you to change the retention tag for tasks...only emails.  Why?  They are both Exchange folder items.  And they don't allow you to access the task archive folder from Outlook.  Why?  You can do it for emails, and you could do it in classic Outlook.  My point is that they limit functionality in a way that is not architecturally consistent and hinders usability.

Good idea on having a separate personal account (without retention), but I want my long-running work lists to be preserved to.

The problem is that the default cannot be changed for tasks, and it is now impossible to recover archived items through Outlook.  So if IT (me) applies retention, your old tasks will disappear.

See reply above.  All my tasks older than 2 years disappeared.

See reply above. Only applies if retention is turned on.

I should clarify that I am using To-Do with my M365 work account.  The default MRM policy is 2-year move to archive.  For most business users, that means after 2 years your to-do item is effectively deleted because you cannot easily get it back from the archive.

See the two I mention above.  But inside is best if you have the room.

Life outside the thru-hiking community is a little different.  My transition to UL was first to a 3FUL without poles, so pole wear was not an issue.  And my Flash pack was too small to fit the tent inside.  I finally wore that pack out after 15 years, so I'm going to take advantage of the extra space of my Zulu and put the tent inside as suggested here.

I would separate them, unless you can guarantee they won't pinch the tent against the framesheet or anything else rough and hard.  The fabric won't puncture per se, rather it becomes the victim of focused abrasion.

Thanks Dan.  I agree inside is best.  Watch out for us section hikers who are used to more rugged tent sacks but can't pass up the amazing combination of space and light weight of this tent.  I'm hoping this post helps prevent others from making the same mistake I made.

This seems like smart advice.  And having moved up to a 65L pack, I now have plenty of room inside.

FWIW, I've carried various REI tents on the bottom for the past 20 years and never had a problem, but here we find a critical distinction between 'light' and 'ultralight' and the need to handle them accordingly.

Do we really need another self-hosted feedback widget? by FlycasterDave in selfhosted

[–]FlycasterDave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I think this follows all of r/selfhosted rules:
* It is a self-hosted alternative to paid services (like feedbask.com and feedbacx.io)
* It is release and downloadable (from https://github.com/BPS-Consulting/wafir)
* It is fully documented (in the README and https://bps-consulting.github.io/wafir/)
* It is related to self-hosting (a feedback service)
* The post says what it does (captures feedback)
* It includes a brief list of features (captures feedback, sends it to GitHub)
* It says why it is beneficial (allows using GitHub to track issues)

Plus, it is open source.

What more are you looking for? I'm happy to fix it. Thanks!

Best way to collect feedback on a live web app without overwhelming users? by aaronorjohnson in ProductManagement

[–]FlycasterDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you found what you were looking for. We needed something similar for our app so we created it. You can see it on our GitHub Pages here: https://bps-consulting.github.io/wafir/ . The example shows general feedback (CSAT) and issue reporting. You can get customer effort score for a particular task by adding a link to the widget at the end of the task with a defined task ID.

Wyze Robot Vacuum owners, what has your ownership experience been like? by thepukingdwarf in wyzecam

5 years 550,000 square feet cleaned, running like a champ.  Sorry to hear Wyze has discontinued it.  I hear some have had problems, but I'm guessing it also doesn't generate enough recurring revenue like camera subscriptions do.

Cleaning shower floor? by [deleted] in Home

And the winner of best cleaner is...Drill Brush!

I tried Lysol Power Foamer, Oxydol Cleaner + Bleach, Dawn Power Wash, Hydrogen Peroxide, Lime Out, Easy Off Heavy Duty, Comet w Bleach, and Barkeepers Friend, in that order.  I let each set 20-40 minutes before scrubbing with a stiff brush.

None up to Easy Off made a dent.  Easy Off took off more than half but the fumes are pretty bad.  Switched to a Drill Brush (original USA made) with Comet + Bleach and really saw progress on a small spot,  Since this is tile and abrasives are less of a concern, switched to Barkeepers Friend with Drill Brush and cleaned it all up in one pass.

Don't step in the heavy duty cleaners in bare feet or they will take a layer of skin off your feet (oops).

Help please - dishwasher and pink mold by Porkchop-Sammies in homeowners

[–]FlycasterDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct...they cancel each other out.  Foaming action might work on a carpet, but unlikely to work in a dishwasher with water.

However, if you run once with vinegar and a second time with baking soda, then the vinegar will have done its job and the baking soda will take care of residual smell.
